Cut my teeth on 2-strokes in the 60's. Hodaka's, Ossa's, Bultaco's. etc...
Found this on early Yamaha mono-shock on CL a few weeks back for $500.00. 2500 miles and as original as it could be. I just couldn't help myself....there's just something about the smell of burning oil in the morning......

Yep, I need one of those! That looks like an awesome little canyon/trackday/dicking around bike. Probably only weighs 200 lbs as well!

The bike is very rare.
Only about 1400 bikes build by Maico from 1973-1976.
The most MD´s would sold in Germany.

The frame is from 125 GP racer.
The rotary disc is from 125 GP racer.
The 6 speed gear is from the 125 GS
The fork is a mazzocchi
Front brake is 180 mm Grimeca dopple simplex
Rear shocks are Girling

The weight, ready to run with full gastank ,is 126 Kg
The engine output is 27 Hp.
Topspeed is 150 Km/h

With 1 in 1 reso pipe the output is 32Hp.

A few guys use this bike as racer, then the output is by 38Hp,with the same cylinder.
Sorry for my not so good english.
Not mine but very nice.

Nice Kawa,and a freaky color.

Here a pic from the last evolution from the MD 250 lk (luftgekühlt/aircooled).
This is the MD 250 wk (wassergekühlt/watercooled).
Not my bike but very rare only about 400 bikes were build.
The design is horrible,my opinion.

Power output was the same.
No Kröber again, now is working a Bosch ignition

This the MD 125,the parent of the MD 250
with 16hp

Here a pic from MD 125 and MD 250 racers.

If this works it should be a photo of my 1970 L5TA Trailmaster 100. It's a two stroke rotary valve single. I picked it up, (for free) as it was in pretty poor condition. I stripped and painted it, (rattle can) and installed rings and crank seals. Unfortunately despite my best efforts, I had to scrap the original tank and fit one from a '67 Trailmaster. I used the bike for some commuting this past season. And for my vintage bike club's annual weekend on Manitoulin Island here in North Ontario. This year our theme was small displacement motorcycles. Great fun!

If I'm twice lucky this one will be my 1976 DT400C. On the road now after a quick cosmetic and more substantial mechanical overhaul. It was running and the PO was supposedly riding it regularly. I roasted it first ride out...went to the next oversize along with replacing crank seals that were whipped, (and installed backwards!). She's working great now and serving as my daily commuter, (10 miles each way about half of which is on gravel).
I've now got my TW for sale, hoping to finance the purchase of an aircooled RD Yamaha or Suzuki GT380 or 500 for weekend pavement touring.

want to thank all the other posters; hours of entertainment here at ADV-old's cool

PS-it's Vinnie's (and those other TAT vintage guys) fault that I wanted one of these DT's---course I wanted one back in '76 as well; I was 18 and working for $2/hr so it didn't happen then...

Awe Come On! Don't leave us hanging! What's the story? Was it the farmers daughter's dad? The man from Nantucket? Do tell! Inquiring minds want to know!
