The seat is pretty comfy- BUT 99% of the time I ride standing up.
The bike very much rewards standing and control.
The only time I use the seat is if I mess up, deep ruts where there is no room for feet on the pegs and on roads (dirt and otherwise)
Shifter and brakes are not positioned for sitting either.

Skinny bike!

Not that it isn't a bitchin bike. I just remember my dr200s had a factory seat that made your ass feel kicked and your seat looks harsher still. I ended up padding mine with carpet pad and wrapping it in marine vinyl, still rough but way better. maybe my ass is just boney

Is that restored, or just amazingly clean? It's lovely! I love the 60's era Jap smokers

My Da recently got me this pretty little thang.
I'm about to start fixing it up and hoping to do some traveling on it.

Before I start tearing it apart, does anybody have some advice for long distance traveling on old 2 strokes??

Welcome to ADV! Nice first post. I don't know squat about 2 stroke travel, but that's a sweet little bike you got. Congratulations.

Sweet looking ride. I can't speak for that one, but if it's at all anything like my old RD400, be very sure to plan your trips around available gas. My Daytona Special got abysmal fuel economy.

my old RD350 got OK mileage for what it was. I rode it from Los Angeles to Las Vegas a number of times, a couple runs to Utah and back. Never left me stranded. Just carried extra fuel & spare plugs. Miss that little bike.

You may want to bring 2 Stroke oil as well. I recently acquired a 2S and was surprised at the amount of gas stations that dont carry the 2S oil. When I was a kid they all had 2S oil.

The rubber joins between the header and the muffler tend to go pop, too. A spare is always in order.

i remember that too... damn near every gas station had two stroke oil. none now. seems half the auto parts stores don't even carry it anymore.

now it's cycle gear (few/far between when you're travelling) some independent MC shops and in a pinch Home Depot for some cruddy oil.

even just running around town on my smoker, i carry an extra quart of 2 stroke oil in the tool bag, as well as a couple bottles of pre-measured oil.

I'm guessing that the Time Bandit has no trouble hitting 88 MPH.
