Africa eatern route southwards in 1st half of '08?

This may be a long shot on a forum with predominantly US visitors but here goes..

Is there anyone out there planning on doing this route in the 1st half of '08 or knows of anyone who is?

I'm looking for people to share Libyan tour guide costs with, or to ride with through some of the bandit areas further south. I've completed extensive planning but suffered a setback to my '07 departure so tackling it solo in the 2nd quarter of '08.

I can't help you, but there are some non US folks around. I'm thinking about an Africa trip in '09 (Marocco -> South Africa via central/east Africa) so I'll be waiting for your experiences.

I'm sure you can find people going that way at www.horizonsunlimited.com. For what it's worth, I have done that trip alone and it wasn't to0 bad. (I came in from Egypt though).

I will be on a part of your stretch. Coming from Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, I will have to cross Libya and I am facing similar probs with the tourguide. If you like to you may pm me. I will be starting from Germany 1st of March and head south to France, Spain and Morocco first.
