Actually most are streetbike safe. Don't count on dragging a knee and you'll be fine.

Well my bike got its first taste of dirt that I know of today. My wifes family owns the land near natural bridge on Jim French road, and we went back there to the river and I decided to take my bike... got a little rainy and wet but it handled it good. I think I'd have no issues with it on a dry dirt road. She did drive my truck just in case (although I think that was an excuse to take our little dog). ADV hawg.

Now that is something you just don't see very often. A Harley and a good Japanese helmet.

I pretty much wear all the gear (98% of the time). Sometimes I'll go without my jacket and stuff but not often. I'm saving up for an aerostitch suit right now since my riding pants have gotten pretty messed up since they're old and have quite a few miles on them... I'm just a motorcyclist who rides a harley. I grew up around shovelheads and evo's, and I finally got my dream bike. If my wife didn't ride with me I'd probably snag a crf250l or wr250r....

Good on ya for getting out there. The sporty was actually easy to ride all through the ANF as long as it was dry. I put more dirt miles on that bike when I owned it than pavement miles

Side note. Forward controls took some getting used to offroad, but like anything else, you adapt, and improve.

I'm looking forward to tackling some more dirt roads on this thing, but I think I'm going to wait on it to dry out a little more first... if it ever does.

The forward controls weren't too bad... it was mostly the front end feeling like it was going to wash out that was freaking me out. I used to race motocross, but the last time I had anything to do with it was 5 years ago. I'm eventually going to put midglides back on this thing because the forward controls are way too uncomfortable for me anyways.

If you're charmed by Harlies in the dirt, here's the guru.

I find myself laid up once again, sore as shit, sleeping's a chore, due to a very low -- walking -- speed get off in the ANF. A simple turn around after having taken a wrong turn. Will miss a few weeks of dirt riding, but with any luck, will be back on the bike long before the micro-dick hunters begin to blast away at the traffic signs again this Fall.

Did about 220 miles yesterday on an f800gs in Vermont. Stunning scenery. Phone crapped out though.

Once I turned the abs off, had a little fun on a few forestry roads and other areas on recommendation of renter and a local guy riding with me for a while. My Tallahassee planting may be short lived...

Anf

52 miles mostly single track on my two stroke. Incredible rain while south of 267, soaked to the bone. But fun was had by all.

Did 60 miles of 50/50 stuff yesterday on the north side and around miccosuke. Made it until the last 5 miles to the house...then torrential downpour. Got real fun with the knobbies in the rain on pavement.
