Best part is you get to lay in bed and listen to the sound of arteries hardening

I take this very seriously as the photo below will show
There's wisdom in that. A couple of years ago, I had some gastro-intestinal distress brought on by way too much cheap whiskey the evening before.

I first tried recommended doses of Pepto Bismal but barfed that shit up immediately. Despondent, and losing my will to live, I bought and knocked out a big fukkin' honey bun and quart of chocolate milk and within minutes, was firing on all eight. (back when I had eight to fire on.)

I then suspected, and Dr. Buzzperson now confirms, that the pepto was a stranger to my stomach, whereas the honey bun and chocolate milk were well-known and trusted friends.

On another note, here was today's ride. My two riding buds encountered two other dudes, one on a DR 650 and the other on KTM. One goes by Troy and tho' my buds told me the other gents name, I forget. Anyhow, about 50 miles of great riding, moderate dust, and not too wet to cross a few streams where we needed to.

The ANF "restricted" areas (e.g., the Silver Lake park and campground) are victims of the gummint shutdown but the notice on the gate was silent as to the OHV trails.

Narry a peep nor fee . Each of the three of us who rode today have yearly permits tho, so we are shat out of some of their value. Too, we had to suit up in the wet grass just outside the gate.

One might also observe that there was very likely no federal law enforcement presence either. But we old farts behave pretty well, so it was a non issue to us.

I shucked all the teeth off my rear sprocket on my 300 EXC today. Last time I did that was in 1976 and a Can-Am 125 TNT.

That should teach my cheap ole ass to replace the chain every now and then, but probably won't.

I've got a couple of servicable spare rears if you want to try some gearing changes before you order up. I was planning to do just that on my smoker once it arrives.

You're a generous fellow and thanks -- I'm pretty much set on 14/50 which is, oddly enough, the same sprocket ratio I use on my RFS.

Re-reading this thread always makes me feel nostalgic. I miss the days when I wasn't sure about some things in life..

Mike will be back sunday with the 300. I leave for the left coast again on Sunday.... Since you're sold on that combo, I may have a new 50t. I'll look this evening when I get home. If I do I'll put it on my bike trailer beside the house- gratis.

Colorful may be an understatement.

With that said, I can't wait to smell Castor oil, listen to air cooled two strokes clatter like an old bed and mattress, and watch grown men fall in love with inanimate objects in just over 24 hours. First vintage festival in 7 years. Can't wait.

Where and when is this 'vintage festival'?
