CAPITAL Rally AUS

Another Cpital Rally is done and dusted, this time I spent two nights camping beside the river. The get together raises money for the ACT Motorcycle Riders Association.

The rally is held in the Brindabella Valley, a short ride of 60 kilometres from Canberra on a good dirt road.

DirtWannabe was there on his classic 600 Tenere dirt iron

MrsOom was on her new KLR 650 (which keeps breaking indicators)

The weather was just about perfect.

The Friday Crew

Lots of ADV folk were there so feel free to add pix.

Leglessone showed up with A2 enthusiastically rolled out his his swag and his tent ended in the drink.

Cheryl to the rescue.

We were in and out of the water all weekend.

And had a bit of company with a red bellied black snake moving between the tents.

Red Bellied Black Snake (Paeudechis porphriacus)

The Red Bellied Black Snake

The Red Bellied Black Snake is a dangerous snake species found in Australia. It is a red bellied snake, and black on top, hence the name. It inhabits mainly the east coast of Australia, close to a source of water. They can grow up to 1.5 metres in length. This snake usually gives birth to about 20 live snakes at one time.
The bite of a Red Bellied Black Snake is very dangerous and requires immediate medical attention.
Amazing Fact: The Red Bellied Black Snake can give birth to up to 40 live snakes at one time.

Well I DID get to the Capital rally but all the shady spots were taken and someone hadn't mown the lawn anyway I felt like a bit more riding so I went over to Tumut and then back up to Wee Jasper and camped at Swing Bridge reserve[IMG][/IMG] under a very shady tree[IMG][/IMG] and sat in the river[IMG][/IMG]and drank G&T's for the afternoon! Dashed civilized,what?![IMG][/IMG]Had to do some running repairs as well![IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG] Up early this morning ,into Yass, thru the Yass River Rd to Gundaroo and over to Collecter via Marked Tree Rd, this is a beaut runacross the ridge you see going past Lake george. Into Goulburn for brekky at the famous Paragon cafe then home via Tarago and the Nerrige Rd, nice 700k run for the weekend, off to Parkes next weekend for the Elvis festival, Cheers all Dave aka sidetrack bob

Nice work Dave I'd be keen to see pics from the Elvis weekend in Parkes.

The crowd grew over the afternoon

A mix of dual purpose and road bikes.

Some trumpets

Sausage sizzle

A mix of bikes

The mighty Condor 450 from Switzerland - a long way from home!

Do I spy someone's old GTR outfit in the background there? That thing just keeps on following you around mate, you should buy it back.

Pogo is certainly getting good use out of it he has clocked up some serious k's - the GTR engine and driveline is a pearler.

NB Fodder and AL58 were there on their outfits too.

Had a great time myself, the ride in and out was a lot of fun on the scrambler. Will tack some picks on to this post if that's cool a bit later. Now looking forward to the Karuah River Rally.
