Thumb Best trip of my life..so far...Loop of Europe.

Here is my real report! I posted my trip earlier, but with just a link to my photos...i've finally taken the time and embedded the pics with descriptions.

Something I always wanted to do, travel Europe by motorcycle. Ever since my first backpacking trip in Europe with my friend Wayne (who I did the motorcycle trip with) we'd see people passing us by on bikes while waiting at train stations...bus stations...side of the road...everywhere! It was then when we knew had to do it. So two yeas later of saving we were off...

Our plans were much more ambitious when we first started out but with just over 2 months free time went to the following places.
Started on London in order to:
France
Belgium
Netherlands
Germany
Czech Republic
Austria
Slovakia
Poland
Hungary
Croatia
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Montenegro
Italy
Monaco(does that count?)
Switzerland
and back!

Aug 5, 2007 We pack up the 2 F650's, Me on the Dakar and Wayne on the reg F650 with the low seat, more on that later:-(

We take an easy ride our first day down from London to Brighton. There seems to be a few people on the beach. Turns out it was pride week, and our campground was full of people into thing that we were not into...so we decide to camp in the "family" section of the campground.

We quickly find out that unlike campgrounds in North America camp fires are a no no.

Off to France...We go with the Norfolkline ferries they are the cheapest and your not stuck by your bike like on the Tunnel

No one seemed to be around when we were crusing around Brussels

On the way to Holland we smelt tobbaco...and then behold!

Once there we stayed at a small costal town call Noordwijk just south of Amsterdam.

After dropping off all our gear we head into Amsterdam...sure enough I get a flat since all of our tools are in our panniers!

We manage to get the wheel off and Wayne heads off looking for a tire repair shop while I wait around.

After struggling to get the wheel back on without a center stand, out of nowhere a mobile motorcycle repair guy shows up and helps us free of charge!

Heading out of Holland to Germany

After one of the longest and wettest days of riding I've ever experienced we arrived in Koeln Germany. Having camped the last week and being completely soaked through all our "waterproof gear" we decided to stay at a hostel.

After a long while of blow drying gear and hanging the rest of our gear in our now 100 degree room we headed down to the hostel bar where we met these friendly Italian girls. The light was very dim in the bar but I swore that 2 of the Italian girls had matching herpes on there lips (think Spinal Tap). Due to the lack of light I had to confirm my suspicions and what a better way to do it the take some flash photos. Sure enough the photos confirmed my suspicions. Wayne and I had a good laugh. After a few bars and drinks later we notice one of the girls making out with this poor Dutch guy (see one of the photos). Trying not to be rude, I had to go say something to the young gentleman that though he was having good clean fun..so once she went to get another drink I approached him telling him what I knew to be true. Right away he said I was crazy...so I pulled out the camera to confirm his doubts, a funny looked crossed his face then he took a shot of what ever he was drinking and ran off to the washroom never to be seen again!

Koeln

This is the best motorcycle store i've ever been to! Louis! Soooooo much cool stuff to chose from!

Like if you bought this coolant, you get a free subscription to Penthouse!

More coming real soon!

More!

After leaving the craziness that was Koeln, we headed down the Rhine river. It was overflowing from all the rain.

There were so many perfect small villages and picture perfect castles on hillsides we lost count and stop taking pictures.

Upon some advice from some Germans that were touring around on BMW's as well. They told us to go to there home town of Schwäbisch Hall...about an hour north east of Stuttgart...good call on that! Turns out some best road we've been on so far on the trip so far.

Look nobody is around in Prauge! Just my bike, unreal!

Nice shirt!

Some of the cheapest beer we could find...so far. It only got better after this, we were heading East ya know?

Wayne finally can't stand his low seat any longer and bites the bullet for a high one at the only BMW dealership In the CZ.

Starting to look a little Soviet here!

Kunta Hora

Classy!

On the way to beautiful Cesky Krumlov.

Cesky Krumlov. If you ever go to Prague this place is a must. It's only abut 2 hours south.

It has a bear pit.

Wayne blending in with the bears

Off to Vienna...

Once in Vienna we meet up with an old friend of Waynes...she came by the campground for some drinks.

Sitting around the picnic tables having beers we meet some interesting people. A guy from Holland that won't shut up about conspiracy theories about 9/11...some girls that are on a bus tour of Europe but only seem to stay in any given city no more then a day, and a really drunk Irish girl.

The poor boyfriend of this girl went to bed and as soon a he did she started making out with anyone that has 2 legs!

I've never seen a campsite so packed! It felt like we were in a refugee camp.

Once in Bratislava we hit up the old Mc kebab!

and then hit the sights with a friend i got in contact with that was backpacking around Europe

Yes we are young and think shit like this is funny

On the way to Poland we took a major detour and traveled across a river on a old time ferry.

More perfect castles....

A little offroading

More soon!

Nothing beats European tours on bikes.... your report looks and sounds familiar, maybe your riding buddy posted his report a while back.. and I asked about the bikes and he says you bought them in the UK... I'm not losin' my mind, am I?

Keep it comin'

The finest vodka in Slovakia

At least when we set up it wasn't raining...but it didn't stop all night. After a few hours our campsite turned into a river. Luckily there was an old camp kitchen that nobody was using anymore, so we spent the night in there with everything else that was seeking shelter...rats...frogs...

The next day it cleared up and we made our way to Budapest

These ads were everywhere

You must go to the thermal baths in Budapest!

A Japanese infomercial was shooting for some "revolutionary" wash cloth.

The next day we made our way to the communist statue museum

A pit stop on our wat to Croatia

We made it to the ocean!

this is the view from our campsite..stunning

The costal roads were amazing

Even More!!!

At this point we were about halfway through the trip....

From Split we took a small ferry to the island of Brac and the to the small town of Bol...another must in this area.

This was our campsite. Right in front of the church. You could jump into the water from the tents.

The view from our tents

My girlfriend flew down from London and traveled with us for 5 days!

Another amazing beach in Bol

One night we went and saw a movie in an outdoor theater. Just below was the ocean.
"Bourn Ultimatum"

Leaving beloved Bol back to the mainland.

Leaving Croatia we made our way to Bosnia...via Mostar to Sarajevo

Once in Sarajevo we wanted to explore the hills around it so we drove up some dirt roads to here.

Taking in the scenery a local guy came up to us and explained the area....we were just below where they had held the olympics. He told us that the whole are was bombed out during the war and now is left in ruins. Also he told us to watch out for MINES!!!!!

We drove a few more miles up the road...and behold a bobsled track!

Above the track....wow!

SHIT!!!! THAT LOCAL GUY WAS NOT KIDDING!!!!! LIVE MINES!!! we stopped to take a picture of this and a guy in a bomb suit came running out of the woods telling us to get the hell out of there!!!

More soon!!!

Again to anyone that is thinking about traveling in this area take this road! One of the best on the whole trip.

The area reminded us of a Lord of the rings / Indiana Jones set.

At a pit stop we ran into some bikers from Lithuania.

More soon...
