The team is an independent cross country rallye racing team based in Perth Western Australia.

The team's next event is the 2010 Australasian Safari 17-25 September 2010 with the focus very firmly on the podium and the top step

Love the 'Berg and am waiting to get my hands on an '09 or '10 FE 450. I think the FE 450 has the opportunity now to become one of the hottest Rallye bikes with KTM's support, ASOs rules, and the right gearing.

I know I'm not the expert, but for an amateur, I don't think the price can be beat, especially if you pick up a couple of KTM 450 EXC motors for spares if the mounts will match up. I haven't looked at that part yet, but I think it might be close.

Some Swedish mates have put together a big team effort (17 riders from Team SOE Sweden ) and are headed for the Tuareg Rallye in Marocko as we speak...

the engine mounts & frame is totally different between the FE450 and the 450EXC, no way its interchangable

You can buy a new spare FE570 motor for racing for about AUD$7,000, so I guess around USD$5,500 as things are cheaper over in the USA

Yes, both are 650's and the second one is prepped and ridden by Anders B... brother to "Swedish" Mikael, who rode the 2008 Australasian Safari on a CRF 450 with the GHR team.

Micke has built a replica of his '08 Safari bike, here at home in Sweden using some GHR sourced parts and tips from "the penguin".

I believe Anders had some contact with yourself, on some tips for jetting etc. on his 'Berg?

Appreciate the update, hadn't gotten that far in the homework yet. I live in Europe right now, but have looked into buying a 'berg in the US and having it shipped here since the conversion rate drains my bank pretty quick.


OTOH, KTMs and KTM parts are way cheaper for me here since there's so much of it on the market. The FE450 is purely emotional for me. There's no reason why I couldn't get away with what I want to do on orange, I just figure this is a once in lifetime opportunity for me to knock some great riding in EUR and N. Africa, so I might as well do it right.

I am currently in love with he 570FE. Only weeks away from buying one.

I would love to start doing some safari racing. How does one get into it? What does one need? Can you point me in the right direction? I might ride down to Nannup on Sunday to have a look at the Forrest Rally.

Would make my year if I could get my shit together and enter another berg in the 2010 Australasian safari. I should not get ahead of myself. 2011

Congrats on your new Berg..I also have a 2010 FE450 in my shed and I LOVE the way it handles. It really flatters my meagre abilities.

gear it for speed and do the safari adventour challenge tour this year to ride some of the course and get a feel for the event, then race in 2011.

Totally +100 best way to dip the toe in the water and get an inside feel, but sign up quick as spots are filling fast and it is capped at 13 riders I hear

Also Gazza Whittle the tour lead rider will be on a Berg FE570 this year and will be supported by our team so you know help/parts etc is very close at hand for your bike if in the unlikely you need it

yes head down, Andrew Coaker & Mick Heuchan are riding 570's and Rhys Curiel our 2010 Safari support team manager is looking after them so introduce your self and check things out, be easy to find re the Berg quickshade & banners etc

The Quit Forest Rally in 2010 for the first time in the history of the Australian Rally Championship (ARC) for autos, motorbikes & quads competed in the rally in a RallyMOTO format event. 2 Days of WRC style racing over forest gravel roads at Nannup south of Perth WA the same as the autos.
