<---- Size 14's. I ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs. I got into the habit to keep my toes from dragging the sides of ruts on singletrack.

I sold my '98 a few years back and regretted it the moment we loaded it into the guys truck who bought it. So when I had the money for another I put the word out that I was looking for one and a friend of a friend gave me a number of an older fellow who just couldn't kick his over anymore. So I scored a pretty clean 2000 for $1400.

I was planning on going to the white plastic, and ordered some used pieces off Ebay. Well it was kinda rough, so I painted it black and installed it for my Moab trip. Didn't want to wreck the decent shape red ones. Put the UFO headlight on, a exhaust tip, and some Tusk CRbend bars with some Acerbis hand guards that came with white plastics I had ordered.

Glad to see this thread dedicated to what I think is the best bike for a recreational rider. Here it is!

All clean and loaded for Moab.

Poison Spider Mesa trail.

Fins-N-Things trail.

Just me screwing around exercising the suspension.

You could always move the shifter...
I adjust mine up when I wear my motocross boots, and down for street hooliganism :

We got a pair of Alpinestar Tech 8 for him. He doesn't seem to have any problems shifting. Is wearing a size 13 or 14. I think its a 13.

Thanks! I have lurked for a while, registered, then forgot all my info, username and password. Finally figured it out so I wanted to share the xr4 with you guys.

I love this thread, it's nice to see how people mod their bikes to suit them and their riding style.

I went to Upton Wy. the other day to ride the Inyan Kara trail system. It is used for an endure there every June. It was fun. Really, REALLY tight in some spots. Made wish my bars were trimmed down a bunch.

There's a slight wreck around mid video. Got all outa shape and cross rutted. I started picking up the pace in last bit of the video, I hadn't been riding in 9 months or so. Took me a while to get warmed up.

Enjoy!

OK, my problem is not the shifting. What gets me in trouble is bumping the shifter and jamming into another gear when I am not wanting to. Keep expecting an exploded trans. That worries me. Only happens in the heat of battle. Thanks guys.

What gearing and jetting are you using? Bike seems to run perfectly.

Other than the exhaust tip which basically only a screen for sparking duty, it is 100% stock, gearing and all. That I am sure of because the carb was gummy before this trip and I removed and cleaned the carb. It had the exact jets that it should from the factory. Running at 4200ft in the video.

Thanks for the comment.

Stock? That's no fun, get in there and screw something up!
