We do have dirt trails here but mainly consists of sand trails....the preferred trails are mainly out of bound..... So we head up to Johor up north in Malaysia, our beloved neighbor to trail in their palm estates and hill and rivers. For a scarce land city states Singapore...we do have a large community of dirt riders... Hugging on their XR,KTM,WR,BMW,DR...the list goes on.And yes... We are not in China...... But rather in the Far East.

Ive only just joined this site.....and fairly recently got rid of a much-loved XR400 which i used for Green-laning here in the UK. I used to ride with a friend who also had one.....hence why you'll see 2 different XR's

Thought id post a few pics to show an XR400 / the lanes in my part of the UK............

Wicked Complete newbie

After exploring most of what i cold in my truck, i was always looking at the trails and single tracks i coild not access. so idcided to add something with two wheels AND motor to my collection of dirt toys in the garage. Found this thread when I was deciding on what to buy for my first dirt bike. After reading about 30 odd pages, I decided to buy an 04 xr400 from a friend who was deciding to empty his garage of stuff he was not using. Picked it up for a song along with all of his riding gear and everything related. It is pretty stock from what I could tell. He didn't know much either and always dealer serviced it before he went riding.

2007 FJ cruiser with a few goodies

2010 Foes FXR, freshly rebuilt

And the new toy

First things first, carb was pulled, cleaned, and freshly jetted. Oil, filter, plug, and foam air cleaner ready to be changed. I learned long ago that properly set up suspension is the the key to enjoy dirt. All the horse power (or gravity) is useless if it can't handle the terrain. Got a number of a guy to tune it for me and will freshen up the fork with proper springs and oil.

Long term, I plan on getting it plated, putting together DS lighting, Clarke tank, and maybe a plastic change to white. As you can tell from the truck, I have an obsession with lighting and the bike will get a nose job with two led light bars, one in flood beam and the other in spot beam, to replace the headlight. And of course a stator and proper electrical system to power it.

Lucky for me, I have fabricator and mechanic friends and live in Southern California close to many resources. Looking forward to tinkering with this thing and hopefully riding it too.

And yes, the swing arm bolt will be checked on my big maintenance day. My only solace is that this bike was rarely ridden and only in a dry climate. So we will see.

I knew you weren't in China. I was friends with a Singaporean student in my university days, but recreation in the countryside never came up in conversation. I know in other city-states (such as Hong Kong and Macau), real estate is at a premium, and a few square miles of undeveloped land may not exist, or at least might be off-limits to bikes. I'm glad you Singaporean riders have someplace to play.
