Help...2010 990 Adventure with Blinking F1 Light (54)
I have a 2010 990 Adv with only 1825 miles. Last night while in stop and go traffic the F1 light came on indicating a 54 warning lamp - secondary air valve problem. Bike seems to run fine.
How serious do you think this is? Should I get it back to the dealer or do you think it’s something simple I could square away myself? Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks, Scott |

Secondary air valve does'nt affect at all the engine (except for some more backfiring if its always open).
SAS blanking plates & a 13kOhm resistor (IIRC) are the way to go. |

Check all connectors near the air filter (front and back). Use the KTM HOW to see what things you are looking for. You don't have to remove the SAS, but should know where things are so you can check those connectors.

Disable the SAS with tuneecu.
remove the complete system and install some blanking plates. No more Fi problems and no more backfiring on decel And it's save weight

If it keeps giving 17 then the wiring is faulty. Or get an OBD, TuneECU and disable them both right away! Katoom72 screwed with this post 01-31-2013 at 05:48 PM |
