Maybe about 1.5 years now, ~20,000 miles. They started out at about 12 gallons, I can now get 13 gallons in them. They are grown length wise, so getting the front fairing bolts in is the hardest part. I plan to fix this next time I have them off. Overall I still like them and it's nice not to have to worry about strapping extra gas tanks on in potentially unsafe places. I can head out for an all day ride from my house w/ no worries of where gas is, I just ride. From a full tank I'm getting about 400 miles until the light comes on and could go about 60-80 more if need be.

Would be interested to see your solution to that. I'm thinking about getting the tanks, but the expansion issues worry me a little.

I find it's not that big of a deal. Sure would be nice if you didn't have a to mess w/ it at all, but what other options are there? I take my tanks off maybe once every 10,000 miles for a valve check. So maybe 2 or 3 times a year or if I'm modifiing something.

Headed out to Aztalan Race track on Sun for the District 16 Hare Scramble race.

The RGN race class hit the course at 10am for 1 hr. There were 22 of us w/ all bike sizes.

I placed 21 out of 22. Top guys got in 8 laps, I managed to get 6.
It was a great course, MX track, tight single track in the woods, steep climbs and drop-off. They even used a section of the Flat-track.

Packed up and headed home.

TeraFlex Rear

It was a great day for a ride. Nice 100 mile loop.

Thanks for helping take pics Kris.

And how many others of the 22 rode there, raced the bike, and then rode it home?

I'm back from a few weeks off. I took a long trip w/ a few local 950 riders out to Riggens for the KTM rally. We had a great time getting there. Did about 2300 miles of dirt and pavement. Camping every night but one getting to the Rally. After the Rally Bill and I decided to head for the coast.

We ended up w/ 15 states in 14 days, 6000+ miles on the 950's, ~6 national parks. My 950 now has 56,000 miles on it.

It had been a very wet month in Sept. Flat track races got cancelled due to rain. They re-scheduled....that got cancelled.

So Oct 1 a few of us KTM riders took off on a DS ride. 1200 miles in 4 day.

Follow along here.

CJ,

I was curious how you like your Tereflex for minimal onroad use ( to and from the real riding)? Does it handle highway reasonably well. It's about 20-25 miles to the good riding from Calgary, and I usually take the highway for the sake of speedy commuting.

ALso, what are you running for fronts, I couldn't quite tell from the pics, looks like Michelin ac-10?

Thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan,

I've used Teraflax rears for years now. I like them for serious stuff. Only thing I've found that works on the 950 well in our area.

No issues on the freeway, unless the spokes are packed w/ mud. Then you'll get a hop.
The ride to my local MX track is about 40-50 miles away on pavement/ freeway. Speeds up to 70mph. Freeway I run about 25psi, Dirt 15psi. I've not ripped a tube yet and these don't flex w/ a ton of air in them.

Take it easy w/ these at first until you get a feel for them, they are not like a TKC80 or 908 on pavement or when it gets wet. They will spin up fast and put you in the ditch if you're throttle happy, wait until the dirt for that.

Front tire is this:

I've been running these for as long as the Teraflex. Not a DOT, but I've put 2200 miles on one and it held up well. Keep it aired up to about 30psi. Freeway for 2 hrs at 75mph no problem for me. Cheap and it works well IMO.

good luck.

We're back from Mexico safe and sound to the cold WI weather.

No issues w/ the 950 and it clicked over 60,000 miles this trip. We put on about 2,500 miles and had a great time. We've got a few more pics, GPS tracks and what-not to add to the report, but a good start is here.

This summer I'm going to try and race the AHRMA series on the 950 w/ my 17" rim setup. Try and learn some new skills and hang w/ new friends.

First Race for me is at Road America. See you there.

Craig,

The fact that you get out there and do this stuff just cracks me up. More power to you. So in AHRMA, are you riding BOT Transatlantic challenge or Sound of Thunder? Where does the 950 fit-in?

And yes, I'll think I'll be checking the schedule to see if I can fit something in.

I was thinking BOT Formula 1 and Sound of Thunder to get more track time.
The TA Challenge may work too....details still being figured out. My neigher is a big Buell Race guy involved w/ ARRMA so I've got alot of help close by.

950 should be fine in both of those. I may not be the fastest, but what the hell.
