Can I submit an expression of interest in pre-ordering a kit when you finally have a date?

Pre-orders: As soon as I have them in stock, and have tested them, you can buy one. That seems the least likely to lead to broken hearts.

You said 1st of December dude, you said it!

I'm leaving in 22 days, if I don't receive the tank on time I'll have to go to UK and steal Pyndon's tank while he's riding his gsx-r

Come on mate... that's Thanks Giving, be nice

Just kidding

December 1 has come and gone...

Aurel, I don't want to hear any complaining, I warned you...

The tanks aren't done yet, but the revised mold is done and they are being made. Dates have proven so unreliable, I'm going to quit even bothering, that's why I haven't accepted any preorders.

But, using one of the original SE tanks, I've got the brackets done for mounting to an adventure, and I thought I'd share the photos just to tide everyone over. The only difference between what you see here and the Adv tank will be the chain cutaway on the backside being a little higher.

Here's the overall view:

The cap just squeezes in, here it is with the KTM racks:

Like it was made to fit there!

The install will be very simple- it bolts into the original exhaust mounts, plus the lower bracing plate, which has the additional benefit of placing a piece of steel between the chain and the petcock.

Anyway, all the pieces are in place, as soon as the tanks are done we'll test one and they'll be for sale. Of course I'll post here, and email everyone I've corresponded with here or over advtank.com... just wanted to keep everyone appraised of progress.

But, good news! Finally! After months of waiting, the adventure tanks have arrived. The initial issue with swingarm clearance has been resolved, and the tank fits perfectly. Final capacity is 2.2 gallons.

As ever with this project, there's a minor snag. During shipment, the tanks got minor surface scratches from shifting in their boxes. So, the surface of the tanks have cosmetic imperfections, which are significant enough to be worthy of mention as there's nothing worse than being disappointed when you open the box with your new toy. It doesn't come through all that well from the pic, just as it won't stand out in person, but when you look closely they are not perfect cosmetically. In fact, I have a few that are really scratched, if you want a "pre-patina'd" tank, let me know and I'll knock $50 off (email me to see if I have any left: ned at advtank dot com. Once we've made arrangements, you'll order on the website and I'll do a partial refund to your card which is easier than any other plan I can think of).

To be clear, none of the tanks are cosmetically perfect. None of them are terrible, either. Most have minor surface blemishes, as you'd expect from cardboard rubbing on plastic. A few have scratches that are more substantial than that, these are the ones I would discount.

Functionally, though, they are excellent. Mounting is quick and easy, they work with KTM racks and many other types of common luggage, they look cool (in my admittedly biased opinion) and they'll usefully extend your range. The price is $395.00, including all hardware and plumbing, a quick disconnect fitting, and stainless fasteners. Shipping is about $20 in the US, and about $60 overseas.

Order at www.advtank.com

Orders will begin shipping Wednesday.

single exhaust and jetting recommendations?

Now that you have the tanks ready to go, do you have a final recommendation or availability of a single exhaust can for the 2-into-1?

And a jet kit for the bike that you can recommend or sell us for the exhaust?

Thanks. A spectacular job well worth waiting for. The world of the entrepreneur is not always an easy one. New ideas are easy. Implementing them from idea to commercially available item not so easy.

Single Remus cans are available from Kurt at Black Dog Cycle Works.

We've got jetting worked out pretty well but I don't have specs in front of me. I have not found the mixture to be much altered with the 2 into 1 from the same end-cans on the original 2 into 2 setup (though the end-can will make a difference, between stock and a better flowing one).

I can't tell you how pleasant it is to hear your words, it's been a learning experience and it's easy to be discouraged when things aren't "just so".
