Question: when you undo the quick release to T-line of the main tank, should the fuel be able to drain just by gravity if the petcock is open the auxillary tank. Mine doesn't. Thought gravity would take care the fuel clearing... I didn't remove the male part of the quick release... does this matter.

My aux tank has developed a leak around the petcock, and I was trying drain the tank. Had to resort to the siphon method.

Took out the petcock to see if the o-ring was kinked up. Made sure it wasn't, bolted it back on, tight and put a little gas to see what happens. Its still leaks a little.

Do I need another 0-ring? or is the petcock busted?

Are both the 2-1 and the aux tank compatible with the Caribou Cases luggage system?

I can verify that they are compatible with Caribou's ALS mounting system on H-B racks, although the tank is a tight fit under the rack. I'm using the Pelican 1440 cases.

My understanding is that the aux tank will not fit with Caribou's in-house rack, though.

(damn) That's what I'm wondering about, the racks made by Caribou. Can I get a confirmation that they won't work? Anyone with first-hand experience?

Believe you have to do some minor (if anything can be called that) repositioning of things. I do have customers using that combo, a welder was involved though so it's not inconsequential.

so just to clarify - is it just the tank that interferes with the caribou rack, or both the tank and the 2-1?

Just the tank, sorta the leading edge where the Caribou case rack goes in before the plastic sidepanel, if I understand correctly.

Jim- I obviously missed my calling.

Can you leave the petcock open on the aux tank with all three tanks full ?

I have left the petcock shut until the reserve light came on, then opened it until now but the fuel line from the aux tank does have a one way valve in place to stop any blow back from the main tanks.

Is anyone done/ trying this.?

Yep, works just fine. I spent two weeks in Baja with the petcock open and routinely filling all three tanks (and I still rolled into gas stations on fumes).

I just got back from Alaska, and this time kept the petcock closed and used the tank as a reserve - but with some problems. My petcock failed, and slowly leaked the contents of the tank into the main. I didn't discover this until I actually needed it - leaving me stranded So be careful, it's a good idea to check the tank contents now and then if you think you're going to need it.

I really wish the tank was white/clear.

I would perfer to leave the petcock open all the time, so this is good news, as for the petcock failing, thats a kick in the behind for just when you need it the most. Thanks for the info.

Question ADVTank and Givi rack?

Hi,
I have a Givi rack for both side and top cases on a 07 990 adv. Anyone knows if the auxiliary tank can fit in there? Is there a technical drawing with dimensions anywhere? Maybe I could check myself.
Thanks,
--
Eric

Ned's outta town ; I'll try to help; since the rack clears the stock exhaust with room to spare and the ADVTANK doesn't interfere with the bodywork, i'd be willing to bet there won't be any issues.

See Ned's pics above for visual reference. (sorry, that's the best I can do)
