Baja Mexico Trail Ride

This is my first ride report! A group of riding buddies went to San Vicente
Baja Maxico for their very first ride south of the border.

The Riders: Scott, Randy (Me), Gene & Dale. Gene is shy giving the adv rider salute!

Back to our arrival in San Diego. We came in on 3 different flights arriving about the same time.

I arrived on a direct flight from Omaha

We took a shuttle to our motel & checked out the area. Had a $15 hamburger & got some rest.

Gary came with the truck from LA & we packed our gear & got out of town

Crossed the border & headed south. Too much commercial development, so our next stop is San Vicente!

Here is Larry's Place. He is our guide for the next week.

we went over to get some dinner

As it was early afternoon.

And a place to stow our gear.

Then back to get settled into our XR400's which Larry has available for rent with the rides.
We went on a ride toward the Pacific down some gravel roads, then 2 track path then-

I can see something in the distance!

The Pacific Ocean!

Hang on, this is just the first Afternoon. We got 4 full days & 1/2 of the last day to go.

I guess it doesn't figure into your baja report, but I bet folks would like to see your tow rig. Dean

OK, I small detour - --

I was thinking about it. But 3.5 hours on a jet & $500 for the XR400, not practical (Not in the Winter)

Larry took us on a day trip down one of his secret canyons.
This is the site of an old mine.

There is our 'Goat Path'

Looks like were out in the sticks!

Short Break:

We came through here:

Gene bumped a catcus on the far side.

then on we go. there is survey tape to mark the route.

Who put these rocks in the way?
Larry scouts out a better way through.

While Dale is partly committed on the origonal route.

We made it. Time for a trailside lunch break!

After lunch, we take the high route back.

And stop at the Ranch to take a picture with the bison:

And the area we were riding in:

Then back to Larry's

where we plan our 3 day trip & prep the bikes. Then it's off for some special mexican pizza. Where in the US could you bring in your own beer & eat?

We ate the whole pizza, but Larry took home some of the
spaghetti for later.

The next day after breakfast we went down Mex 1 for a while to
get to the 'good stuff'. A few miles up a gravel road to a small town
for supplies:

And top off the bikes (that's not apple cider)

Gary has a little fuel left - (he is the chase rider)

After crossing a creek 18 times I stalled the engine in the deep
water & had to restart it standing in a foot of water. I had to wring out my socks -

Gene decides to take a 'dirt nap'

Off we go to take more pictures:

It's time for bigger Pix.
You just go between these mountains & take a right past the hill -

Or you could go over here -

Or better yet, just go up & over -

here is one rider -

Here I come -

Then Gene -

Then Dale -

After all that work it's time for a break

- Intermission -

sorry for the long delay. I had to work to support the govenment workers on holiday.

The price is around $1550. for 4 days with a XR400. this was each with a 4 person group. everything was taken care of from pickup in San Diego to drop off in San Diego. All fuel, food, water, trail snacks & motels are included. Beer & trinkets are not. Whatever plan you come up with Larry will do it. His routes are flexable & there are lots of them. Our group has next March penciled in (He said it would be green up). We got there after the rains & trail conditions were at their best. check out his web site at: http://www.bajatrailrides.com . He has 4 AA enduro riders this week (Jan 20) so it may take a day or 2 for a reply.

View from our break -

We have more miles to cover

before we get to:

And settle into our rooms:

And Enjoy the View:

As the Sun sets:

We has delicious chicken for supper with beans & bread (not this one)

but I think it supplied the eggs for breakfast -

Boy that was good food -

That's making me hungry, i need a short break for my supper then we can continue the Ride

Did you ever wish you had your 650R vs the 400?
