I am glad to see some Hodaka's being riden hard. When I was a kid I use to really enjoy going around people on mine. My dad worked at the second largest Hodaka distributor in the world. Parts were cheap and man did we go through them! I would bend a front axle every other ride. I broke quite a few frames. One almost in two minus the gussets on the down tubes. We would start with a special gear set, shift kit, and clutch kit. If you pulled the shifter rod out every couple of rides and replaced the ball springs they held up pretty well. It was real easy to do. I use to replace the counter sprocket seal EVERY moto. NEVER had the shifter pack full of mud. My first bike was an Ace 90. My favorite Hodie was my '74 Super Combat. It was far from stock but I use to smoke 'better' bikes with it.

I have not seen a Desert Knights jumper in a long time, great to see it.

Hodaka

I saw a nice Super Rat at Rice-O-Rama in Central Mass, a few weeks ago. I hadn't seen one since the early 70's. Nice old pics up there!

The thread has been stagnant for a few days. Here is a pic of a one off CZ raced at the CZ World Championships in the early 80's. This CZWC is what started vintage racing. I wish we still went by the original rules. This bike had a one off hand built frame with a full floater set up. 380 motor and CZ wheels as that is what the rules were when it started. There were two of these built. Rider of record, GARY JONES. Yeah he won.

This was my take on the CZ World Championships Unlimited Class after they relaxed the rules on CZ wheels. I stuffed mine in a Husky chassis. This was a cool bike and I wished I would have never sold it. It is in a private collection in Utah from what I gather. It was bad azz.

No it is not mine. Lee Holtz has it for sale. He is a fren of mine. A real chance to have some CZ history. That is a bad azz bike. The only other one I would want from back in the day was a Standard Crankshaft CZ that Art "bigfoot" McClain rode in the CZWC.

Here is a pic of the start of the "58" Big Bear race. My friend Ed Crowell is in it, he was a well known Hodaka dealer and parts maker. At 83 he still is ridding dirt and street bikes!

Amazing thread...thanks for sharing guys!

Flug said it right...to a kid from New York in the seventies, living and hanging on every word and picture in Dirt Bike and Motocross Action magazines, Southern California was IT...and you guys were living it! Too cool...too cool.
