DVDAZE XIII - stay at home its dooms day!

Well I had packed too much shit to stay at home and this is advrider right?

I was just a bit excited about this trip!

Forecast - stay at home its dooms day!

Woke up on Thursday morning eager to get started! I had the bike all packed up the night before for an early-ish start.
Looked out the window - no rain!
But by the time I got my gear on, mother nature must have been drinking as she needed to piss real bad!

My son gave me the thumbs up for the trip so I was ready to go..

Wet and boring to San Jose to pick up Jason.

OK Jason! Wow! This guy is up for an adventure! SV650, home made rain gear and camping gear. He was low on funds, but high in spirit! We rode off to Meet Maddbrit and FB down on 25 outside Holister. Well we got the wrong place and waited for a while until we said f-it and started to ride!

Well we goofed and they were waiting and already had breakie!

Maddbirt the gent had brought Jason his rain suit as he was testing out his new day glow wham outfit!

I had already loaned him my rain pants but the dude's jacket was an airflow thing! WTF? Anyway he was way more comfortable and dry with the BMW one piece. THANKS MaddBrit!

Well we didn't get very far down 25 before we knew we had to find a new way to get around the closures on the roads. Yup only 1,600ft and the snow was laying and making visibility terrible!

After an interesting detour via Kingcity/101/46 bla bla we arrived in bakersfield for the night, and to dry our gear out.

Dinner was at the crystal palace, oh my GOD! for a scot this place was like disney land, I had no clue how "big" this country music thing was!
This place is like a candy store! Lots of lovely girls walking around in tight wranglers and cowboy shirts. Our necks were sore from prev-ing around looking!
luckily we were their before the band started!

Is this not a reasonable place to park?

The "help" was lovely! MaddBrits photo skillz were not

I think I found a girl who would put up with all my new riding plans too!

Day 1 - over! (will edit in the video once I have it done!)
What a day, was great to meet FB, great guy and he can ride! With Bob and the rest of these guys I knew we were going to have fun!

Day 2 - Forecast - go home its dooms day again!

day 2

Forecast - Go home it is still doomsday!

Well, we woke up to nice sky's and dooms day weather reports! Snow up to you wife's tit's! Well there was but I would say more like my granny's (down by ankles)

A quick breakfast and it was a group thought to get on the road while the sky was clear!

Looks like 178 was going to be a bit too crazy so we headed for Tehachapi instead.
Great weather, schools closed due to snow, crazy looks from every cage driver we passed and some seat pinching moments to go along with the sand and ice. oh and it was cold!
Big to julesdog who took the lead and helped point out the scary stuff along the way, was like having paid for a tour guide
It wasn't yellow so MaddBrit had some fun!

my best snow surfing impression

Always on the look out for gear testing opportunities...

Not many pics of the ride over Tehachapi, was too busy trying not to fall over. The weather and some family stuff just got the better of Jason and he headed back. I don't blame him, I would not have made it out of San Jose in his position!
The three amigo's headed over and the weather got much better.
Stopped in Mojave for lunch and then gassed up in Ridgecrest before heading on through Trona.
I took this quick before the pants came down! whacky fooken english folks!
Fabian was looking at my bike thinking "man this wee bugger has a lot of gadgets!"

They were very nice to wait as it took me 15 minutes almost every time we stopped for me to get my gear on and get ready!

I am tightening MaddBrit's trousers, don't want to see that ever again!

I loved Trona, live here...NO but very cool place to ride through......might be able to make out the fuck ford spray painted on the back of the car?

MaddBrit plugged in the ipod and prodigy blasted him into triple digits.....the wee dot in the distance is his dayglow jacket!

The views were awesome!

Two nutters!

Plan was we had ridden through snow but thought wildrose might be a bit much....

We didn't even get to try...

Never tired of these shots!

Got a bit interesting going over the pass to stovepipe.

Lots of sand and icy patches

Looked nice at the bottom of the valley

Best thing was attitude, we had 110% positive the whole trip!

Popey the nutter went over Walker and paddled his way through some crazy snow! He was just a few minutes behind when we arrived.

MaddBrit "You came over WALKER?????"

Death Valley was looking lovely

I started to film the ride in......off ya go boys...

Then teapot decided to roost me, for the filming of course!
Oh and we were not going slow either!!!!!

I backed off, only so much dust you can eat without a beer!

Met a few travelers along the way

Hmmmmm, where is LTS and MsBianca? I had the camp site all to myself, oh well they might be running late I thought. So I set up camp

Well they didn't show so Popey helped me lift my tent over to brit camp!

Nice way to travel I prefer to ride my bike, but at least they showed up!

Quick walk around camp and I headed quickly back, cheap beer and hot, man on man action!!!!

More bikes arriving

Big for Loeky, he trucked in my dinner, beer and chair
Lucky I had plenty and a feast was layed out at brit camp! Yummy! Black steak! oh yeah!

Night fell upon us after an adventurous day, what a fun trip so far!

here ends day 2!

Day 3

Forecast - bloody awesome!

After such a great dinner and great company I slept like a baby. The plans made the night before with Wotevah were to get up at the crack of dawn and ride to the dunes for some photo ops.
Well up we were and as usual I took way too long to get ready, so we had a spirited ride to the dunes.
Wotevah was packing a nice bit of camera kit and MaddBrit had his uber sleek canon so we were all set. Parked off at the side of the road and hiked in with ATGATT! Exhausting!
Well we made it up to a nice high dune and waited, some great light was coming over the clouds but a bit over cast. Then Giddyfunk showed up with his new fancy canon.
Chatting with new friends and take pictures is just as good as it gets.

Bit warped, but I like that the skyline is smiling at you.

Moon was still pretty high in the sky as it swapped places with the morning sun.

Lense got a bit dirty, have to clean this one up in photoshop when I get time.

MaddBrit, was maxing and relaxing after our long hike.

oh oh oh, here it comes, about to clear the clouds!

Low sun long shadow, might be my indian name

Stretch.............

sorry but I got carried away

Wotevah getting some nice shots, guess I was in the way

I was a happy camper

MaddBrit "work it, come on give me sexy!!!!!!!

a wee artsy one

you feel so small compared to the vast landscape

wow that darien is bright!
Just a speck in the distance, thanks for waiting guys!

well after some good shots we started to get ready to head home to camp.

We were not the only ones taking off...

Zooming back to camp!

MaddBrit kept forgetting which damn lane to use, guess he thought he was back in the UK?

Amazing conditions on Saturday!

One of the must have shots

After getting back to camp we grabbed the rest of the lads and headed off for a wee ride.

NICE LIGHTS MojaveGS!

I didn't taste it but I guess it is bad?

I was happy!

OK, artist drive next......... to be continued..

This day did not suck!

Some really cool pics in there, Garry! That fish eye almost makes me look slim!

PS you picked the wrong truck and trailer to take that pic of. AceRph rode the Alcan 5,000 (and most of the US) on that GSA last year!
