You know you are a KLR rider when -
You proposed to your wife because she owns a KLR
You take your honeymoon on his' and her's KLRs
You and Oly can drink beer and bench race KLRs until the cows come home
You are on your 3rd KLR and have never had to replace a OEM doo
Your KLR has 10 miles on its clock for every mile you log with any other vehicle
When friends introduce by saying, "Meet the guy you always see riding that funny looking bike."
When you have 8 bikes in the garage, but the only one running is the KLR

noob just bought a $1000 KLR

Man does this sum things up perfectly--and I'm taking to this like mother's milk. It's hilarious, true--I'm loving it!! Much bang for the buck--sorry, I can't help myself!!

You know you're a KLR rider when:

1 Mnt Dew Commercials remind you of maintance issues
2 You laugh because your friend spent over $500 on a gas tank that holds 4 gallons
3 You have two sets of rims. One for off road and one set up for highway.
4 You think washing a bike makes no sense at all
5 George Jetsons car sounds familiar
6 2008 was the first time you ever disagreed with another KLR owner
7 You always have a 10mm wrench handy
8 Your sick of seeing 17" knoby tires everywhere
9 $3 a gallon is really putting a damper on your 1 lottery ticket a week fund

and last
10 You removed the rear pegs because you wouldn't want to be seen with a woman who'd ride 2 up on your bike.

You get a letter from Kawasaki about a factory recall concerning loose bolts when every nut and bolt on the bike was loose from the factory!!!

You know you're a KLR rider when...

You have an accessory installed on your bike that is made out of wood.

Wow...I absolutley love this thread and there is so much truth in here. I actually had the right panel start to come off on me twice. The first time the bolts came loose and rattled out (replaced with nylock nuts and new bolts). Problem solved. The second time happened after I dumped the bike in the Black Hills trying to go some where I probably shouldn't have and cracked the plastic brackets. I didn't realize that till I was flying past a bunch of Harley riders just outside of Sturgis and the right panel almost was ripped off by the wind. If it wasn't for the bolt on the top of the panel it would have been gone. I've since fixed the panel and put the HT PD Nerf bars on...no more leg in the air for me

The aqua in the back is classic Barbie, it even comes withe purple stripes. And a rider that has a matching aqua/purple/white helmet! You could probably say the blue one in front is a bit Barbie too..

When you spray paint your stock rims black, rather than buying anodized ones.
When you replace a broken front rim with a $25 replacement from ebay and true it on the fork.
When you can rebuild half of your bike with materials from a hardware store.

Great thread

You know you're a KLR rider when...

...after seeing a new '08 in the showroom, you smile knowing it will drop the price of your next used one.

...a new set of tires delivered to your door is is cheaper than a front tire for the BMW.

...you don't care where you park it, what you leave on it, or how long you leave it...it will be there when you return.

When you go to WalMart to look in the spray paint section to figure out if they have any blue and white paint that would make your KLR look like a Beemer. Not because you're enamored of Beemers, you just want to piss off the Beemer guys.

You go to the WalMart paint section to look for military colors in Army green, then decide nah, 4 bucks a can is too much to spend, you can just live with chalky military green plastic.

You ride with KTM and BMW guys, and start down a rough two track. You look back, and they ain't there. You go back to the pavement, and they are sitting there looking at you like you're crazy. And you're looking at them like they're gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

You go riding with some guys with real off-road bikes, and when they start down some nasty single track, they look back, and you're right behind, smiling like you do it every weekend on your KLR, (which you do). And then they start to feel a little gay for riding a race bike. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

You look for Trials tires in 17". There ain't any. You lay an 18" TT on your rim, and wonder if 3 rim locks would hold it on. (Don't try it, it don't work. Don't ask). Then you wonder: "Maybe if I used silicone adhesive and rim locks"?

You get on your buddies 4 stroke off road race bike like a KTM EXC, Yamaha WR, or DRZ, and you say: Wow, this thing is really light! They look at you like you're crazy because they have been on their buddies 2 stroke recently.

You heat and bend the front brake lever on your KLR to allow another half inch of squeeze before it hits the grip in the vain hope that it MIGHT actually lock up, because you priced the oversized disc kit for the KLR, and it cost more than the whole bike.

Someone stop me, I could do this all night!
