Winter Ride...
If you haven't read Iceman's story about his winter trans Labrador crossing you should. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=303995 It is the sort of trip one might dream of except I most likely am too much a pansy. Guess it's OK. The rain let up mid morning so I thought I'd go for a ride. After all, if "The Iceman" could brave the elements so could I. Today it was in the low 40's, not the same huh?.. In any case the beach was blowing so I thought I head for the cover of trees to break the wind. Into the woods I went. Along the way I found a herd of Elk just hanging out in a field, they were a little wary as I stopped for a photo. The alternative would be run back into the wet forest, they decided to wait and see if I was a threat. ![]() The road wound down, around, up, back then climbed to the ridge. So far the roads have been clear except for a few downed trees and numerous branches. As I approached the top there was snow. Earlier there had been a truck thru here leaving me a track to ride in. If I stayed in the track things worked out good, if not, well... ![]() On three occasions I got tossed out of the track and fell down, I picked this beast up by my self. As I continued over the back side the snow got deeper so... The sensible thing was to turn around. By now the rain had picked up and it was really coming down, time to head for home. Pansy or not, it was a nice winter ride at just better than 60 miles for the afternoon. Bruce H |
