Mz 660 Supermoto

My last street bike was my old 93 Honda xr600 converted to a supermotard. My previous bike was a Yamaha Vmax. The 600 was a huge step down from the Vmax power wise but far more nimble. Although riding it on the freeway in traffic I felt like I was naked. I had sold the xr a year and a half ago to pay some bills.
I had visited an old high school friend who had a 1970ish 600 BMW. Other than the drum brakes, I loved the bike. After doing some research I decided I liked the BMW r1200gs adventure. I test drove a new one last spring (2007) and I liked the bike but I couldn’t justify selling my car and putting money with it to buy one. Instead I took the money I had and bought a 97 wrangler. I figured I would have the wind in my hair like with my old CJ and my family could enjoy it with me. While I loved driving the jeep over the summer it was still not a bike. I started looking at older GS’s and I just cannot justify the asinine prices that people pay for a used GS. Shortly after I looked at my last used GS in December, I found out that my fantasy of moving my family to my rural home and selling my urban home and commuting on the GS was just that. A fantasy.
When the stark realization that I no longer needed a long haul bike finally hit, I being a craigslist junkie found an interesting bike. I test road it while wearing a leg brace (recuperating from knee surgery), made a low offer that was affordable to me at the time. And now I have my new street bike. I now have a 2002 MZ 660 SUPERMOTO. I don’t know much about the brand, but I figured since it has a Yamaha motor similar to the one in my raptor ATV it can’t be too bad. I will throw new tires on it and see if I can have adventures in my 2.93-mile commute to work everyday. If anyone has any relevant info about the bike and would like to share, please feel free.

PLEASE put anti-sieze on the chain adjuster bolts as soon as possible.

Otherwise you're looking at a massive headache down the road.

You put your ham and cheese between the heat shield and the muffler.

When you get where you're goin, you're ready to munch.

congrats on the supermoto. I looked around for a mz but couldn't find one in a reasonable distance. For a 3 mile commute there's nothing better than a supermoto

BTW: I agree with you on the asinine prices on the BMW GS's I thought I was going to have a long commute and looked into them for a year round ride....no way I'd pay that much.

For future reference, M4 made one, might still. Pretty darn loud though.
