Rotella T syn, is this the right one?
Disclaimer; this is not an oil pissing thread about what oil is best, now please read on......
I've noticed that Rotella T sythetic seems to be a popular oil for bikes. I have been using the T 5-40 synthetic in my truck for a number of years now. I buy it at Walmart. It comes in blue gallon jugs. The data on the back leads me to believe it is more formulated for diesel applications but you can safely use it in gas engines. All I wanna know is, is the stuff I buy, 5-40 Rotella T synthetic, in the blue bottle the same stuff some of you run in your bikes. I'd be using it in a '98 RXC620. I used to use Mobil red-cap but when they quit making that I've been using semi synthetic MC specific stuff I mail order. I notice the Rotella T seems to darken up quickly compared to things I've used in my truck in the past. I need to simplify my life, If I can use one oil in the RXC and the truck that would be groovy. SO, what's the consensus? -Harvey #75 '98 RXCe620 '98 RXCe400 '02 EXC300 '89 FXRS |

I use that in both my bikes.
Diesel rated oil is good as it doesn't haver some of the additives that cause clutch slipping. Avoid the "energy conserving" rating for the same reason which is usually 10-30w or 5-30 w

Yes, that's the stuff. BUT, don't use it in any gas engine with a cat. The additives can clog the cat quickly with even small amounts of useage (burning).

Used in everything involving a sparkplug at my house-even the implements located in Ms. Dirty's special secret "Crafts Nook".
Goes great on those frozen waffles as well. Dirty
