I tested a 450 Rs today and man that was a fun bike. Seat sucks but damn that was a fun bike. Made my klr feel very inadequate. Now I am trying to figure out how to get one.

Just bought a 2013 Beta 498RR.
What a GREAT motor. I have owned 2 KTM 500, 5 husaberg 570, 1 husaberg 350. And the Beta 498RR has the power of the 570 without the weight. Maybe I got lucky but my 498 is the smoothest 4t I have ever owned. My junk doesn't go numb on fast DS riding.

The forks need a little work for me.

I have already added a soft seat and some good tires. Now I just need to add some miles. Lol

New to Me 2010 520 RR

Hello Everyone,

Well I just picked up a new to me 2010 Beta 520 RR from a local dealer. The Bike was a Demo bike with 600 miles and I had them replace the tires with MT21's and service it before picking it up.

I haven't much time to ride it lately but my first impressions on the bike was that it was so much more nimble than my 03 KTM450 EXC, the stock seat was about as nasty as the KTM (Seat Concepts kit on the way), stock gearing is too tall for where I ride, and it is very cold blooded in nature. Overall a great bike that is well more capable than I am.

So far I have ordered the Seat Concepts kit and a JD Jetting kit for the bike. I figure that I will be ordering the Scotts Steering Damper kit but am trying to decide if I want to go with the rubber mounted one on the Beta site or the standard Scotts underbar mount.

Definitely will need to get the larger gas tank for some of the rides that I go on and I am pondering what gearing I should go too. For now I think I will drop one tooth on the C/S sprocket and see what I think.

Hello Beta owners.

A couple RS series questions for a potential owner.

1. What are the maintenance requirements? Time between oil changes, etc.
2. Is their a rear subframe?

I currently have a wr250r, but i'm looking for a bit more grunt. Bike will be used for the TAT and other adventures.

You can go to the American Beta website and download the shop manual for the bike in question. I have been going through the 520 RR and it seems like the maintenance level is pretty much equivalent to what KTM uses.

Not sure about the subframe yet but there does seem to be a pretty beefy section of cast aluminum right behind the seat. As far as anything under the tail section I haven't seen one yet. Looks like the tail section is pretty much some type of structural plastic. The do have a rear rack available for the bike but it looks like the attachment point are a bit forward or under the seat.

I have a WRR as well and that is my weapon of choice for my long DS rides like the TaT. I plan to use the Beta for more of a 2 or 3 day DS ride where I would like to do some playing.
