Grand Mesa motor sports has a used 350 RR race.
They are in Montrose Co. Look on the beta dealer page for phone number.
Ask for Kevin and tell him mike from nor ca told you to call. I just drove 1820 miles to get my 498RR from him. BTW they can ship. I was in a hurry and I had a few days off.

Hey Slowpoke

a 2013 49RR just showed up for sale in the Flea Market. It's in CA and legal to be plated too. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=885955

Tempting.. I saw that one, but really want a 450 or smaller and want factory plated RS.

....thanks for the leads, truly.

I understand that. I've got a 400RR that I made street legal, but here in TN it's easy to do. I know CA can be near impossible. You should give the 498/520 a chance if you can find one. The power builds so smoothly and is so controllable, there is not really any downside to the extra displacement. Even the fuel mileage is near equal to the smaller engines.

But hey, I know what it is like to wait until you find exactly what you want. I waited until I found a 400, because that is exactly what I wanted. Good luck with your search. Whichever model you find, you will love it.

Beta 450RR forks, too stiff/harsh

I've got a 2012 Beta 450 RR, and find the forks too harsh. I've got the compression backed off all the way, and still its not soaking up the hits. When catching air/jumping its OK, but on the trail its fatiguing.

I can barely compress the forks when holding the brakes and putting all my weight on them, and can see its not using all of the stroke, hence it appears the springs are too stiff. The manual states the stock spring is .48, thinking of going to .44...

Would appreciate any feedback from the universal mind, thanks.

That seems odd as they are sprung fairly lightly. How much do you weigh? Did you back off the rebound as well? I am 190, I have a 12 450 RR as well and find the forks to be fine. Is the bike new to you?

I weigh approx 170lbs, and have backed off the the compression all the way, and rebound nearly all the way.
Bike is brand new.

Thanks.

Boriana Mine Road

I took a days ride last week on the back side of the Hualapai Mts. up to the Lodge for lunch, and out southeast to Wikieup to refuel and back out to Yucca. Traveled around 125 miles. Unloaded the bikes at 95 degrees, then a half hour later caught some cold rain, a little sunshine to dry off, some snow after that. After lunch some more rain and hail until we reached Highway 93, then some nice warmth all the way back to Yucca. However the most important thing on my new 520 was that the carburetor did not hiccup, cough, wheeze, or misfire all the way from Yuccas 630 feet to the Hualapai Mts 7200 feet. It was completely dialed in.

I have not touched a thing except replace the bolt in the middle of the front fender where both plastic pieces come together. It fell off on the trail.

Beta Electrical System

Does anyone know if the Beta electrical system is a 12V DC system only?

When I look at a wiring diagram it appears to be very similar to a KTM system with an AC and DC circuit. With the head light on the AC circuit.

Yes, that is correct. headlight is AC. You can buy stator/rectifier kits to change it to all DC.
