I bought a genuine XR650R cap, and it didn't fit. The gasket on my clarke is still holding up after 8000+ miles.

I switched from IMS to Clarke because I did not find any rad guards that would fit under the IMS. On the other hand some claim that the IMS offers some kind of protection on it's own. I didn't want to find that out. These rads are much too expensive and finding a dealer with them in stock is kinda hard in the Sahara.

4 gallon IMS

The 4 gallon IMS has built in fins (which hold fuel). Very well built and offer very good protection for the radiator.

Nomad tanks in Australia. google it. 6.5.ltrs comes with all hoses, tee pieces and fixture/fittings via post. too easy. ps and it ALWAYS fits......
and no, the straps are NOt the only hold down point. They just stabilise the moulded bolting points underneath. Mines hit the ground in a street "off" and barely scuffed it at 70 kph.

Question about the tusk billet cap

There site says that it won't fit on a tank with a cork seal. Mine has just that. Does anyone know if there are other options?

Thanks,
DA

A rattle can of metal flake paint...for that "tough" look.

I have an Acerbies 4.2 on an "S" (with the fan removed). Switchfoot and I just got back from Ocala NF down in Flatistan and after riding in the soft stuff and getting stuck in traffic on the way home...

I want my fan back.

Some things to consider:

You have to remove the cooling fan
Relocate the horn (easy)
Either fab up a new forward seat/tank bracket or run without it
Use shorter bolts for the radiator shrouds

I love mine!

I have a 2005 E that I bought a new Acerbis 4.2 gal tank for and never installed and I am moving all the off road stuff from it to a 2007 SM that is plated. MD is an awful place to get an "off road" vehicle plated.

ANyway, have you had any issues with your S without the fan? It never runs on the SM so I'm thinking that the Aceribis 4.2 I have for the E should go on the SM with the mods you mentioned. I want an air horn on the SM anyway....really gets their attention when I use the one I have on my ST 1300.

Thanks,

Joe

I just crushed a radiator and want a larger tank that will help protect them. This 4 gallon IMS looks good. Are there fitment issues with it?

Do the Clarkes protect the rads very well?

Just trying to decide.... And who has the best prices on them?

thanks,

Clarke 3.9 owners

All you guys out there who have the 400s and installed the Clarke tank, would you please tell me if there's any fitting or adjustment that needs to be made to install this tank on the bike?
