G'day my good mate
ya know i' ve been in the' dog-house ' for awhile,,,but now i'm allowed to cruise and answer/contribute in the regular columns,,, ,,had a few minutes to check on my 2 favorite forums,,,when lo n behold ..there they are!!!,,have often wondered how ya be doing with that project,,,mainly because i helped Afekete dial in his HP-1 1150GS...![]() and did MAP Engineering's rear wheel prototype... ![]() and quite frankly entertained the thought of seeing if i could pull off something like this myself,,with an eye to building a sub 400 lb HP-3...if i'm going to do something why not DO SOMETHING...hell we all know know what NOT to do ![]() so clue me in if i can be of service.... ,,,you're my kind of guy taking on something like this,,,woodyPS..i really like that new dual overhead cam motor as a starting place....and the stock PS/HP it's putting out

Ya will be surprised Woody!
I need to send the spare black rims back for another set of wheels to be built Woody. Black please...
I am thinking to myself, the shots you posted, are some fine looking bikes, mine aint gunna be looking anything like them though. Got some very fresh ideas on how we think things should go. I am sure there will be some here who will be interested and some who will just be plain disgusted But hey I'm allowed to do what I want to. There is a lot of knowledge out there and I am looking forward to sifting through it. Just hope it does not become tedious for others. Not using traditional forks on this one, will be using a single shock on the front but not the traditional telelever front either. The 'mechanics' like I said will be different and forever in flux as the project rolls on, but the concept is locked in. This will be a bike made for serious bush bashing and maybe even a bit of racing if it all works out as planned. This is not a show pony or a street ride. It is going to be made for one purpose only and that is out in the backyard. Cheers Pilbara |

i see the EQUATION!!!
a humvee is to a car= a GS is to a motorcycle....
a rallye car is to a humvee= a PD/Baja racer is to a GS an ATV is to a rallye car = Pilbaras vision is to a PD racer..... a machine stripped of everything but what is necessary to go damn near anywhere in your beloved outback... with the capability to: crawl up, over and down most anything,,, cross rivers, watering holes and billabongs,,, wick it up and fly across the trails and dunes,,, capable of carrying the fuel,H2O,and gear to get there and back,,, reliably,,,for great distances day in and day out.... ![]() i'm with ya,,,especially when it comes time to think outside the chalkboard ![]() woody ....or did i miss something???
