RR 44 and 97

What a beautiful day in NE WI. Didn't take a whole lot of pics as the riding was so enjoyable. I was up and on the road by 6am and in the first 100 miles I think I saw more deer and turkeys than cars!

Door Peninsula..??

Has anyone made it to the RR's in Door County? I'm originally from there but in Alaska now. Sure, the riding is nice up here, but looking at all the pics of the country roads sure brings back nice memories!! No place like Wis-co!! Enjoy the roads folks....

I did them two weekends ago. They were nice-- Went through some interesting coastal forest stuff, But were also lined with great big vacation homes.

Did 540 miles over two days. Stayed overnight at the washington island airport during their annual Fly-in & fish boil. Good ride.

Near Sturgeon Bay on a backroad-

What a great backroad find!

I love finding cool stuff on the side of the road! Somehow I don't think you'll be draging that prop[ home with the KLR though.

Time for me to start cogitating about my route to and from the Central ADV Rally and the RRs to be found along the way!

I'll get those final two over by Crivitz during the Fall Wabeno ride in a couple weeks... At this point I don't care If I have to push the bike there, They WILL be mine!

Anyone up for the next challenge?

Crivitz

Here's what you'll find in Crivitz. It seems fitting that a state with a pub at every backwoods cross road would commemorate an old Store and Dance Hall!

I enjoyed the slideshow of your 105 pictures. Rain or shine you ground it out. When you get those last ones near Crivitz we need a photo of you removing your helmet and taking a bow! Well done! Keep an eye on your mailbox.

Last RR ride of the season

Took a ride today. Not far, but still good to get out. Likely the last time I'll travel down a Wisconsin Rustic Road this year. Plans for a group ride were scotched when the snow started sticking to the roads, but shortly after noon the sun came out and I suited up for a ride. I layered a thick down vest between my Gerbing jacket and Darien. The result? Think bright yellow Michelin Man. It was worth it though because the vest pressed the heating elements right up against the skin where they kept me toasty. High light of the ride was having one of these swoop by:

I don't know about y'all, but I've had fun chasing Rustic Roads this year. There's lots of fun to be had out there. My favorites were the one around Holy Hill for the wonderful elevation changes, and a couple of northwoods roller coaster tracks.

I didn't quite get them all this year. I still have a handful to get, one bunch near Green Bay and up into Door County, and another cluster in the far southeastern corner of the state. I've never been to Door County so I'm looking forward to exploring that area. As for the southeastern RRs, maybe if I time it right I can hit one of those meet and greets the locals do!

If you find yourselves suffering from PMS this winter, throw another log on the fire, drag out your maps and start putting some routes together. I've still got a stack of stickers to give away

Kevin

Bump for a new riding season!

Folks keep assuring me that the snow WILL melt. It has to right? Heck, we have global warming on our side! Of course, if you're part of the hard corps like George you don't need to wait for the snow to melt, but for the rest of y'all, start your planning, plug in your battery chargers and get ready to GO RIDE!

ps - Spread the word! Let folks in other bike organizations know about this. I want to get these stickers off my desk and out to riders.

I'm making up my mind to get more serious about documenting my visits to these roads and hope to make it more of a quest for officialdom. Thanks for your efforts here Kevin!

This past March I bought myself a V-Strom and this sounds like a darn good way to test it out. Glad I was able to find this thread. Looking forward to giving it a try. See ya' out there.
