Desert/Outback riding advice

Hi fellow adventurers. A buddie and I are bringing our DR650's over your way in May for a couple of months trip around all the Northern regions, and hopefully, back thru the middle via the old Gunbarrel and Birdsville etc to Brisbane( our start point).
Having never been there before, but still being capable Adv and Trail riders over here, I really would like to know just what distances are reasonably acheivable,per day, in the types on conditions we will likely encounter, while loaded with camping gear/spare fuel/water/food etc,in regions like;

Cape Flattery - Cape Mellvile

Tracks to and from (frenchmens track) Chilli beach

The region around Pormpuraaw-Kowanyama- Karumba

You get the picture!! And of course the middle desert regions;WA-NT-QLD.

I posted a similar question here some months back, and while I got some gems, overall it seemed that very few of you may have done these sort of places? or, maybe no-one wanted to share too much with us Kiwis?, I don't know which, but we sure would appreciate anything you could share!!
Cheers, Jamie.

Well,no, not really. I could, and would give you much more detailed and relevant information about somewhere I had been in NZ should you seek that onfo. If I hadn't been there, well I would just shut up!
So, should I go with 'no-one knows', or....'no-ones saying' ?!!!!!!!!

of course oz is about the same size as stewart island so running round all these places will be an absolute dawdle for you in the time frame...

bear in mind nev's gyration round the block took 6 weeks of fairly consistent tar riding.

you would do well to be a bit more specific in your questioning. many of the places you allude to require susbtantial fuel range to begin with plus water pus food plus spares.

nhulunbuy. last time i knew anything about the place you needed a specific reason for going there to get a permit.

in the places you are going if you break down you may well be waiting a while. and things left on the side of the road mysteriously either get vandalised or removed. or burnt.

as greg points out use your search engine and dig for specific locations and start to link it together.

last thought - whatever your budget is allow plenty extra - supplies and fuel in these areas is not exactly metro pricing...

I can vouch for the fact that Jamie is definitely a fair dinkum Kiwi farmer & a certified good bugger. Him & his mate have done heaps of research on their upcoming trip, have a good handle on the extra fuel/water/spares issues & are setting up their bikes really well for the job with beefed up suspension etc etc, but extra info is always good & I would have thought the Oz Adv collective could offer a bit more useful advice.

Cheers
Clint
