Ontario Ottawa riders (circles)

So I just got my zumo and related software and sat down to create something looking at 4ft of snow out the window. My idea was to create a mostly dirt road track/route, not sure the difference yet, 1 hour around Ottawa from any direction. This is made up of the usual highway, road ,dirt road, snowmobile track and other nasty stuff. This probably could be driven with any bike, but hey there is 4ft of snow out there and I really don't know what I have created yet.

So the plan is that other riders around Ottawa that know the area can add to thiss route as you may know or have other track/routes to add. As we ride we take this map and add to it and repost change the file name as test route 1 then 2 etc. before the end of the summer this may be chged to an awesome tour from just ok.

So others that are not from around here that are reading this, I encourage you to do the same with your city that you live with the software you have post it with the city province or state, encourage others to write to it and repost.

So Here it goes:

Looks like way more than an hour, but I'd be up for it in the spring!

Looks like a LOT more then an hour. I suspect the Quebec part alone is more then that. A good trip otherwise...goes right past my door!

What's going on at the Supreme Court (as pinpointed) that day?
A ruling on helmetless turbin wearing motorcyclists!

Great idea. My riding is primarily Calabogie trails and Montagne and formerly the Cumberland areas before the ban. I'm planning on doing the Paris-Dacre ride this year, schedule permitting, so will be out ever weekend racking up at least 300 km per day; no wife/kids. Anyone interested in joining us for the weekend rides drop me a line once the ice is off the road.

I meant to say, it is about an hour from any point from Ottawa. I'm thinking it is about 300km.

lots of gas but not posted on the route.

Unless you're into an Alberta-like experience, i.e. miles and miles of straight-arrow, flat roads, I would skip the manotick, metcalfe part, and concentrate more on the more interesting bits north of Ottawa.

I think I counted a total of 3 1/2 contour lines on that whole section

add to the map, I realize there is way more riding to the west and north of Ottawa. I don't know all the spots but a few just like everyone.

I figure that loop will be an all day run. I have rode 98% of that stuff.
You may need to trade that 400 in for something a little bigger!
Baby steps with that new Zumo. You will need Canadian Topo loaded on your sd card to give you real detail. That section of Taddy hill road from Calabogie to Ompah will take an hour and change. That road section off of Dwyer hill called flood road is exactly that, I lived in marlboro forest for 11 years.
there is a lot off gold quality offroads there, the asphalt stuff is snoring.

cheers
dave

there is one of us in every town

as far as the snoring stuff, and Dave, you say 11 years in the marborough, I'm thinking take 15 mins reroute the map through drier land if thats possible. East Ontario was built on swamp land. Also the lad in Casselman can reroute that section from Limoges to Russel. This summer I,ll do my best to reroute from Russel to Osgoode. and so on.

It would be great if we left the original alone as that would be the drive around places.

as far as the bigger bike thing goes Dave, I'll work on that too, right after I have huge bliss-ters on my ass and I pull my "little" bike from engine deep mud bogs.

Looking forward to testrouteV1.gpx
