Yo Hoe! Whatcha been doin? I gotta get my 300 to you sometime this week. I have a meeting in charleston, but it's date is TBD so I'm not sure if will be this week or next. Are you in the burg or cross lanes?

Ride Report

I decided to take wvridgerider up on his Richwood ride offer. Met up with him and his friend Bob in Richwood on Sunday morning and went up the South Fork of the Cherry River a couple of miles to unload.
It turned out to be an almost perfect day for a ride, in the 50's to start and into the 60's and sunny later in the day.

Here is wvridgerider and Bob at our first break. Note the windmills in the background.

Taking another break. Note the small road to the right just beyond the bridge. We took that trail and it was the best part of the day. About 4 miles of 1st and 2nd gear trail riding with rocks, mud, and overhanging vegetation. It was really a fun section.

Awsome scenic view. We passed many other similar views during the day.

There were windmills everywhere on these mountain tops. Approximately 60 of them. They are HUGE, much bigger than they look until you get up close.

A word of caution to anyone riding this area, especially on a weekend: Beware of the drunks on ATV's and side by sides.
We had one close call where Bob was leading and riding on the extreme right edge of the road and still almost got hit by a speeding side by side.
He said later that if he would not have been so far to the right, that he would have been airlifted out of there. Scary Stuff.

All in all, a great ride with two new friends. Wvridgerider and Bob are both very congenial and had lots of good stories. Looking forward to more rides with them.

Looks like a good day of riding.
Those side by sides and quads will kill ya, they are the main reason I would rather ride off road during the week.

But I don't get enough time off to do that often.

Anyone interested in a 2001 TW200?

My wife learned how to ride on this bike, and I'd like to get her an XT225 that has just popped up down here on my local Craigslist. The bike is in Pocahontas County at the family's cabin, so it'd be much easier to sell out there rather than bring the bike home and sell it here.

It's a 2001 Yamaha TW200 with about 11k miles. About as pretty as a mule, but a much better ride than one. Fresh battery installed this past weekend.

Willing to sell for the same deal I got on it this past fall before I spent some money on the battery and rear brake pads that were replaced, $900.

This bike is a blast, you realistically can not get it stuck, and if by some chance you do, you just pick it up by the rack and reset it somewhere else. Great around the camp/farm bike, or take it out on the road, but I'd avoid the superslab. Registered here in VA.

Pics*:

Edit: I also just ordered a set of used blue/orange plastics from a 1995 TW200 so those will come with it as well.

*Disclaimer:Wife not included.

Count me in. What time?

One of my fork seals started leaking Sunday, I hope it will be OK for one more ride before I fix it.

Might be a slight change in plans. But still going in that area.
