yep, i think gps says stilington road, its the little gravel road off back mountain that pops out over at Dunmore.

glad I avoided Durbin all weekend, I bet the train wreck made that place a mess

anyone familiar with Greenbrier/Monroe county?

I started to cross Broad Run(50/2) sat morning, but it was raining and I didnt want to get in over my head without knobbies. Road appeared to see VERY little traffic, completely covered in pine needles, sign was green with moss. It runs from Tuckahoe road(50) over to VA 602 near cove creek(cove creek hits 311 at the tunnel) and back down toward Pedro. (just SE of Greenbrier state Forest) I was just looking for a more gravel/dirt route down to sweet springs thats big bike friendly.

Not familiar with that road...BUT if you are on sittlington rd to dunmore on the right side of the road is an old Forrest Service road that's traveled very little. I have had the GS across it a few times. Comes out over on Seneca close to the lake.... If you swing a right when you hit the pavement again it will take you out to Cloverlick. There's some good riding around there too and you can pop out close to show shoe if you need food or gas.

yep I saw that one, I almost went that way but wanted to try to stay on a more north route. Lots of great little roads over there. yeah the little road right past clover lick in the 180 on back mountain comes out at the Raven. I never have enough time to hit them all

the rain also deterred me from a lot of the less traveled roads. I hate coming a cross a blow down and having to fight the damn thing in wet leaves, ruts/etc...I am a big wuss

I'm way wussier with Mrs Bholmes on the bike. If she has a crappy time I have a crappy time! We didn't hit that road this weekend. I wanted to make it over that way but she was getting wore out. Downed trees are a bummer no matter what though. It can ruin the fun fast and sometimes "just turning around" isn't that simple on a big bike. Last time I was through there I had to waller the beemer under a fallen tree.

Hey TD, I'd like to do that ride again from Mahan across the mountain where I got hurt when you were with me. Visibility is better now with most of the leaves off.
I could do it Sunday if anyone is up for it.

How gnarly is that ride out of curiousity?

Not bad. Some rocks, very little water/mud, mostly 4 wheeler trails and dirt roads. A couple of hills but again not that bad.

Would it be humanly impossible to ride the beemer on it?

I think it would be OK.
I rode it on a DR-650 with 50/50 tires.

Cool cool. I will see how things shape up. I may bring the GS down and waller in the mud like a pig should if the moons align. Depends a lot on how much I get done on my roof Saturday.
