9 Feet to go til we can wade the river! The corp has aggressively drawn Bull Shoals lake down from a high of over 28 feet above normal pool to less than nine feet this morning. Another 10 days or so and we will be back to normal flows. This rain has severely restricted the wading fly fisherman but the end is in sight.

Not long til the warmer weather of Spring....give me a call if you want to enjoy some good fishing, riding, or tossing one back on the deck.

Link to Fishing Report and some good info on fishing the White and Norfork Rivers. We are on the verge of some excellent fishing and wadeable water. E-mail me for further info about fishing and riding the area.

Updated original post to add a couple of links and updated accomodations.

Some good information on local lore, historic places, and places of natural beauty from the guys at "Exploring Izard County".

Blue Ribbon Fly Shop link for information on river conditions and fishing report.

Also added a sleeper sofa to the cabin. We can now sleep up to six comfortably.

If you visit the thread please give me a bump.

Thanks,
Chris

Spring is here and the fish are biting!
The river has returned to normal flow patterns making for great wading. Send me an e-mail if you want to experience a great spot on the White River for fishing, riding and just plain relaxing.....and don't forget to give me a bump!

Here are a few pics from this weeks fishing trip.

It's riding season! Come enjoy the backroads of the Ozarks.

Just had a couple from Two Wheeled Texans rent the place for four nights.

Here is a response to my thread from ABBY on TWTEX after their stay.

Just got back from 4 nights at the cabin, such a wonderful place. Solitude, no phones, no email, it was great. A couple of trains, couple of boats on the river. You really have a jewel in this cabin.

Yater and I went up for the Syllamo's Revenge mountain bike race this weekend and stayed for our third time at MiddleAgedMissile's cabin. The weather was pretty awesome and the fishing was pretty great just right off the dock. The three dogs went with us and LOVEd it! They even recognized the turn off the highway and got all excited.

This is a picture of Calico Rock from south of town across the river.

Went walking along the bank to a new fishing spot. The dogs went along.

Caught a couple decent rainbows.

The lowest level of the dock.

Downstream.

Across the river from the cabin.

Good swimming.

Landon lays on the steps and watches me fish.

We always have SUCH a great time there and it's such a great little getaway! Also, fantastic roads around for riding (motorcycles and bicycles) and lots to do out there.

Oh, I should add that it is not unheard of to see topless girls in canoes floating down the river. Saw a couple this weekend... Yater was glad he had the binoculars.

Great riding last week. The river was high from the recent rains so we didn't get to break out the fly rods and waders. We had a deluge overnight mid-week. In spite of the high, muddy water we had a great evening fishing and drinking a few beers on my dock. Pics of a couple of nice Browns caught fishing off the dock.

I haven't got my pictures uploaded from last weekend yet but this is from last month's visit to the fish casa.

From high up on the overlook, Chris and Barb and the mule looking good.
Someone's car had a hell of a ride over the cliff:

Made a nice backwoods ride over to Gunner's pool for a little break, still a little too cold for a swim:

Good place to take a break and cool off:

Across the way from Gunner's Pool is another good swimming spot too:

Always eat and drink good up at the cabin:

We even had time to mow the yard twice and keep the grass looking good:

Lots of great riding all over the place, I'm working on a secret route trying to work a offroad route West from the cabin down to the Ozark NF which is coming along nicely, there is some serious water crossing that have to be worked out, lots depends on current water conditions, esp for big bikes:

And the Buffalo wasn't going to let me cross that day:

More to come, you can find plenty of adventure or not over at the cabin and then there's fishing and canoeing too:

I've got some great cave pictures from this past weekend too, Blanchard Springs Caverns are AWESOME place to spend on a rainy day.

River is down and the fish are biting. Lots of fish on the fly and spoons on spinning gear are producing tons of fish. Water is clear and some of the best conditions in years. Spent 10 days over the 4th of July and caught easily over 200 trout, mostly on the fly rod and all on the river at the cabin.

Link to a ride report..Last two pages have some views of the cabin and local area. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=585146
