Questions about titling and plating in Arizona

Ok....need some brain storming here.

I am looking at buying a quad from a guy in Phoenix. He is answering all questions and does not seem sketchy. Here is the story. The ATV has a OHV tag in Colorado, and was issued with MSO only. I know I could get this titled and plated in AZ if I had the title with no problem.

So my question is what can I do or direct the owner to do? I suggested they take it to AZ MVD and find out what he can do. He is the original owner.

I am going to cross post in Colorado as well.

Any input or ideas. It is a 2007 Arctic Cat 650 H1.

Thanks.

in AZ it needs a title, plain and simple. Co. has no dog in this hunt.

its easier for him to do than you, all he has to do is get a level one inspection and a title, its fast and easy. if he wont and you want to buy it you need him to sign and notarize a title application(power of attorney), then you get the level one inspection and all that.

the easiest would be to pick a day your gonna come pick it up, then you both take the machine to a 3rd party and get it done, its less than 30mins. and the title will go right into your name, all he needs to do is sign a piece of paper or two.

Good answer. I was more than anything looking for some guidance as to what I could tell the owner to do. I told him I knew I had a to have a title but I did not know exactly how to tell him to go about doing what he needed to do. Thank you so much.

Like I said the guy seems pretty reasonable and he is certainly not trying to pull something on me. So hopefully he can get something done. I don't want to make the trip all the way to Phoenix and then leave it up to the MVD or the 3rd party to make it happen. I would rather have that taken care of before I go down.

Thanks again for the help.

+1 on the vehicle power of attorney. You can download one from the DMV website. The only other issue is making sure sales tax has been paid somewhere. I went through this with a bike from NM and ended up paying some sales tax.

Go to a third party place. You will save hours.
