Joel,
Do you have the link for WMRS? I didn't see it sticky'd in Forum West.

I'm still on deployment, getting back in early August, but I just found out I will be stationed in Corpus Christi, TX starting this October....

It's going to be a hell of a ride to make the nOObs ride in March

I decided to take a quick spin through Rowher this morning despite my supernoob status. I figured I would try some of the easy trails and ride around on the main fire road to get a little more experience. I arrived about 8am and it wasn't crowded at the main staging area, maybe 5 trucks parked. I started with the Ark trail towards staging area 2. I managed to make it through unscathed and so I took a break for a picture at the second staging area.

From here I took the main fire road to the end and took the Buffer Loop trail. I managed to tip over once near the rockier, steeper section, sorry no pics. But I picked the bike up and continued on. I figured I would search around for the Spring trail so I wandered around until I found the entrance. Since the Buffer Trail was marked "more difficult" on the sign I thought the Spring Trail would be similar difficulty but it was quite a bit steeper and more difficult, though I did manage not to tip over at all on this one. At this point I decided to take the fire road all the way to the gate near Fall Canyon road and maybe take the Texas Canyon Trail and then head home before it got too hot.

I found the entrance to the Mine trail and it looked pretty steep but I gave it a shot. About 50 yards in I tipped over and decided it was a little too much for me so I walked the bike back a bit until I could turn it around and headed down. Need more practice before I attempt that one again, I think.

So I took the easy section of the Texas Trail that goes between the fire road and the main staging area and then headed home.

I feel like I learned a lot in a short time. I'm looking forward to giving some of the other intermediate trails a try. Any thoughts on which ones are on the easier side?

Fine job. Most the trails on the west side are inter. And easy if you stay low. PS nOOb and solo ridge riding is a bad combo. If you slide off the side in this heat.... Not good, it takes a couple of FFs to gettem back up . Nuff lecturing have fun And check the thread or at least post that ur headin out alone

You're right, it was pretty irresponsible. I'll post before wandering out next time.
