Great food there I ALWAYS stop there on my way to Saddlebag Lake heres a little insight as to why its good food,
can't remember where I found the write up but I copied it and saved it years ago.
Before leaving Mono Lake, anyone who likes a good meal should stop at the Mobil gas station at the intersection of Highways 395 and 120. Matt Toomey, formerly head chef at an upscale Mammoth Lakes restaurant, came here because he wanted to serve good food at fair prices. Instead, he serves fabulous food at fair prices. His no-frills Tioga Toomey's Whoa Nellie Deli, located inside the conve-nience store attached to the station, makes outstanding mango margaritas, lobster taquitos, and a world-class steak Caesar.
Also a stop at Mono Cone at the North end of Lee Vining (about 1 1/2 miles from Toomeys) is a great place for Shakes or Malts of almost any flavor to cool you down
Have fun I have to work

you could Rent a gs from eaglerider. I think Long Beach BMW has a f650 Rental bike as an option.

i have not received my settlement check yet.

i've been out of work for close to 3 months.

i am scraping money together just to pay for gas in Luv2race's RV.

i can't miss this ride, it's one of the BEST

i'm just asking a favor from an FF in return you will gain Karma points
and when i am good with bikes, money, a truck, i will return the favor with a free ride out to the dez or other rides.

Another possible option: http://www.eaglerider.com/ They actually have 250's and 450's for rent....or a 950 Adventure.

Not sure if anyone else is followin along but Kernville is on fire again. Reports are saying about 3,000 acres and burning on both side of the river. Homes have been lost in Kernville and Riverkern. Cheyenne's restaurant is gone and McNalley's restaurant/Fairview and Camp Owens have also been evacuated. Fire is currently heading north.

Sad day for sure. Hopefully it'll be contained soon and grows again.

Major Bummer. One of the prettiest areas around. How far from Kennedy Meadows is it?

Thanks for the info on Eaglerider renting dirtbikes, that's pretty cool. I was all set to try out a crf 250, but it said CD PLAYER - NO

WTF? How can I be expected to PAY to rent some POS like that!?

Only 2 incidents (1 Active) listed right now I don't see anything about Kern river area

The Mono Fire is burning in the Mono Basin National Forest Scenic Area of the Inyo National Forest. It is burning in between US 395 and the Mono Craters, south of Highway 120 east. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. ???

From my understanding isn't Kennedy Meadows closer to the bay area? ie....long way if so.

I thought so too. Not many area rent anything more than Harleys. After I was told about it I was going to use the service as a way to do a long test ride of possible bikes for purchase.
