Question

well I think Joel talked to a guy from over sea that is touring and camping across the US on a Honda 250 so I think the limitation will be your own depending on ur conditioning and enthusiasm .

I believe that was 125.

Many of us ride and leave the trailers and trucks at home. My typical ride is generally ride only from Long Beach to where ever it is I'm going. That's the whole reason I gave up the TC450 for the Dakar. More riding, less driving

As DR said, it depends on you and your abilities and pain tolerance levels.
Drinking always helps

The biggest issue on the Kennedy meadows trips etc for not trailering is if you feel comfortable riding your bike that many miles on the pavement.

I'm not to the point where I have the stamina to ride my bike 175miles to Kennedy meadows from Hollywood

Would be 234 from my new house in Oceanside So need to refuel 3 times one way for me. If I don't want to ride on the reserve. (2gallon tank 1.5 before reserve 60mpg) the WRR does the freeway pretty surprisingly well, not sure about your XT tho. If you wanted to go and camp out I am sure someone would have extra trailer/truck space to help you haul your bike.

Riding there the anticipation for the weekend is so great it's not that bad. Riding home a few hundred miles after a weekend of riding is another story. I've almost fallen asleep in the saddle...pull over, stretch, make a phone call to wake up, get back on, etc. It would've helped to have gone to bed early the night before....yeeeeeaaah right!

Rob has the right attitude and this Australian kid!

and don't forget Wotevah! He did a good 900 mile on his SM400 with tons of crap! He also did DV Daze on the same bike...and ALONE!

Someone was quick to point out that I managed to dump the SM on the pavement after keeping it upright on dirt all the way to WMRS and back. But in my defense, that is no pavement! I had a direction change in mind but didn't quite fully commit to it so the result is this:

I only realized I had a crooked handlebar while I was riding back to LA. Somehow the handlebar moved in its clamp due to the impact. On a happier note, the Pelican case my camera was in, which happened to be on the "ground" side, did its job perfectly.

Blame John™

who said pavement????????????? You can ride to KM from anywhere in LA or Orange county with no more than 60 miles of pavement there and back. That goes for anywhere in the upper desert or Southern desert. Avoid the roads and the cars and see what most otehrs will never see.

From Oceanside, you can ride to Deluz and hook up South Main Divide to North Main Divide to Corona. Jump on the 91 to the 15 for about 15 miles. Then hit the 138 at the 15 for .5 miles. Dirt all the rest of the way to KM, DV, Bishop, Vegas.........Canada
