One of my buddies who races D37 runs a rear trials tire and he swears by them!

My old DT-250, SP-370, XL-500 and XT-600 all came with trials tires back in the day and they worked decently off road.

The new modern trials tires are MUCH better with a softer compound that flexes and grips like mad! After I burn up my new Kenda K270 rear tire on the XRL, I may give a DOT rated rear trials tire a try!

the trial tires were made for a reason and specific application. and when that moment comes, then i will buy one....

right now, i still think, the 606 is the best all around tire for dual sport riding....

When I went to RFBK a few weeks ago. I had a good conversation with dr about trails tires. It seems alot of way better riders than me really like those tire. But I think I do to much road riding to always have a trail tire on. You should talk to Noel about trails tires. Ben

yeah, i did. dr has the mt43 and dot. i'm convinced it's a great tire for what it was intended. i also noticed there's a strong resurgence of this type of tire, meaning it's getting popular for a good reason.

my kind of riding is like yours, meaning there is a good pavement involved, dirt, rocks, and all sort of terrain ; this winter i may even see mud and lots of sand. the 606 and other ds knobbies have been compromised; they don't excel in particular situations, but they are here to provide an "all around tire", including a decent performance in sand.

sure, there will be a time i will give this puppy a try. but only then i can make a fair opinion.

future rides. the coming months the weather will be nicer. it's nice to get to a different riding area and atmosphere.

there's the kotw, howling moon (in on this one), vegas to barstow. aside from those, we have to have one of our own.

i would like to throw in another weekend event before winter comes. we haven't really explored the lake isabella and green mountain area.

camping for sure this time.......

please chime in your recommendation, ideas and routes.....

Up here in the nowrthwet, I REALLY want a trails tire.

However I've been told that ALL of them die early deaths on pavement. Are there any I can get a couple, three thou out of?

WooHoo

Got my new D606 installed..... the one I bought just a week before Joels group buy..

Assuming it holds air, I am good to go for some of the upcoming weekend rides..

The bike still needs lots of work but nothing that can't wait until another project I'm working on is finished..

Here's a hint....

I see two KLR's in your garage - how many do you have?

PS: +1 about the tires. I'm not due for another 2000 miles or so but figure I'd get them for when I do need them.
