This coming weekend is a "MUST RIDE" event. Rain this Wednesday will surely dampen all the dirt and dust!
There is the Mojave Ride on April 4th to 6th! I'm debating if I can go. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...=307551&page=8 http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/barstow/afton.html The other option is a local ride to San Francisquito to Lake Hughes, back to Tule, then to Lake Elizabeth, lunch at Rock Inn, then to Gorman via Sawmill (not sure if it's passable). Last time Nowwhat recon the area, there were snow up on the higher elevation, and I believe there is still. The coming rain might turn it to more snow or into ice! Worse yet, I don't want to be pushing Nowwhat's 950 or digging out the rocks underneath his front tire. I would guess that we need a few more weeks for the snow to melt away. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...=314120&page=2 Scorpion's high desert ride is good too! Our last choice, we can do some of the off shoots of 4N32 and 4N24, including Indian Trail Canyon. Then, scout Lynx and map that place. Lynx is something many of us want to do but we can get lost More ideas? |

You guys have fun this weekend. I'll be backpacking in Joshua Tree.
Now what if I rode the XRL out to JT then I join Scorpion on his high desert ride but i'd have to do it wearing my backpack so i'll leave tthe espresso maker at home but it would sure be nice to have an espresso after riding before i backpack in to the campsite and those guys will be partying hard by then so i'll have a lot of catching up to do and uh...i don't know if this riding then hiking ting will work...oh mman i'm typing out loud....

If it rains hard this week, chances are there will be snow at the higher elevation. That could become very interesting!
Anyone wants to do the Mojave ride in Afton? Never been on this one and this may be the best time to do it, in several months, it will be tooooooo hot!!!!! Hopefully, Mojave gets some rain and that will make the ride lot nicer. I'm thinking of trucking my XR4. If you have a trailer and wants to go, we can do that too. A bike on the bed and 2 more bikes on the trailer. If you want to ride your bike, throw all your crapolas on my truck bed. We can leave around 4PM Friday, overnight camping and ride next day. Head back home Saturday afternoon. Joel |

I'm in for Afton!
I'm up for that. I just read the thread and am excited to go! I'll be trailering out of Long Beach...I'm going to hit up Don to see if he can join in. I am off Thursday & Friday...I'll leave either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning...not sure until I hear from Don. This is going to be a really purrrrdy ride! Who else is going?

The high desert is your best bet I think! Anyway, if you guys change your minds, we will be in Afton - the Mojave Ride. Ride in and ride out all in one day! |
