Thanks Noel.

Man, I am really confused by the results though. The guy behind me in the standings was a full minute faster than me in lap times. I'm missing a lap, and he's missing two. Are these transponders that flakey?

^ Xymo, could you go over the logistics of how you got your bike there, etc?

I would be up for this next year, this year was too hectic to make it.

They did all that for you. It was/is a deal though, Had to drop off the bike at a shipper in wilmington with no gas in it between LAST sun-Tues

I went Tuesday and it was an all-day affair.

Then you have to transport yourself/gear to the island I had planned to sail and stay on a boat, the way to go IMO, otherwise you gotta rent a place on the island, and take the ferry, which is simple enough. THe ferry was busy but not completely full either way on Sat.

On Thursday night they posted a sched with a "mandatory" riders meeting on Fri. First I heard of it.

And I'm supposed to pick up the bike tomorrow or Wed, and that I guarantee is going to be a complete clusterf*ck because they had 27 containers full of bikes, and the warehouse in wilmington had room for like 5 containers and 50 bikes at a time. So for being out of town like me I have to deal with a place to stay & time off for like 10 days, plus the normal expenses.

if you're local, count on missing at least 2 weekdays of work, but really you should be there Friday too so three work days plus the weekend race days.

But I tell you, it was incredibly fun, EVERYONE I've seen is raving about it. They pulled this off in a few months time, and realistically it went pretty smoothly. if they work on it for a whole year I'm sure they will iron out a lot of the bugs.

I read somewhere that it was going to be a one-off event, maybe it said that on their website.

Is there talk of running it again next year? If so, I'd definitely try to make it.

Depends who you ask. From my perspective it seemed like a huge success. I haven't heard of too much asshattery that would kill it off. (I heard a rumor that one racer was thrown in jail but I dunno anything about it) Nobody got killed. More importantly no Foxes got run over.

The Locals DEFINITELY want it, the impact to their economy is undeniable. They only people that are really against it are the conservancy.

xymo .....you're the man!

considering the time off, inconvenience, cost, trouble, etc. you still prevailed. a one time event (at least for now) and great memories, something you have when you ride into the sunset.

post up what you need and let's see what this community can provide you.

we're still waiting for the rest of the pics though.... and javier wasn't there, so no lame excuse saying busy chasing javi.....
