I think that is the original GL which predates both the Coyote and the Great Basin.

I took a day trip to the Carrizo plain yesterday. I was on the Vstrom and only drove across the Monument on Elkhorn rd. The small orange flowers on Elkhorn are not at peak bloom, and the hills do not seem to have as many flowers on their sides as compared to last year. I'm thinking that the peak is one or two weeks from now (pure guess - I'm no expert). Weather should be great this weekend. Elkhorn rd was dry. The main cross-over to Soda lake road had a "Closed" sign on it so it is probably muddy.

I think I'm going back on the 9th-10th for an overnighter, hoping that the Orange flower fields are in full bloom.

Yup, Javier still has a new original GL sitting upstairs in his shop, not sure whether it's for sale or not (presumably).

Having used the 2nd gen bag extensively, if I were to stay with using the giant loop system (I'm not...), then I would prefer the 1st gen bag. I am not a fan of that "waterproof" trucker tarp material, and the more permanent attachment of the 1st gen bag is nice. Strong Cordura is a much better material for this kind of thing (IMHO), especially given that the new bag is nowhere near waterproof to begin with.

I saw that ad on CL, then it disappeared!

The bike was located in Venice, do you know the owner?

I have 2 bikes I need to sell before thinking about another dual sport.

After my 2 bikes are sold, I'll be on that bike like fly on poo!

EDIT: That's another bike, looks like the one I was interested in is gone.
