You can probably get there and back in 16 days, but if you wanna see anything other than endless days of super slab for 16 days you'll probably need a bit longer I don't really get a month off work either, every now and then when I go on a longer trip I just take it, so far so good

I did my alaska trip in 16 days. Way too much riding and I did not have enough time to goto Prudhoe bay, the artic circle sign, and a few other places I wanted to go. It takes 3 days just to cross BC. So 5-6 days from LA to Alaska Border. If I were to do it over again and had only two weeks I would ship the bike and fly.

You can comfortably do it in 3 weeks by riding to Seattle over a weekend, fly home to work, and do the same from Boise on the return..

Southwest airlines goes to both cities, and it only takes a weekend each to ride the bike back home. Works great on long trips like this.

No I didn't do it on the 950A. But after riding up and back (on a BMW 1150RT) i had the bug again to ride off road. That's how I found out about ADV and ADVenture bikes/ riding.

what makes it fun is doing it on a big bike. the 640 is a jack hammer, the 950 will be smoother.

yeah, if only i can get xymotic not to ride the bike while waiting for me, that will be perfect. i trust xymotic all the time except when he's on a bike...you'll never know what he'll do next.

Life is full of paradoxes... In my case, my company just eliminated my department so now I am "early retired" ... and thats the good news.. .. I now have the time to go anywhere I want. The bad news is now I can't afford to do the things I always wanted to do so I am looking at low cost camping/traveling tips & techniques...

And based on all the sore muscles I got from the PSR Noobs ride...
...quoting Joel's response to Rob over at the Noobs thread

This is fantastic advice.. I will make an effort to ride my DRZ every day to help me get back into shape.

I just need to call up Javier for some parts and advice to get my DRZ expedition worthy.

Randy from Burbank

PS.. the really bad news is that my wife wants me to find another job.. so I may only be able to be "retired" for a few weeks more. I got to get out and ride while I can.
