heavy overcast here in burbank. i turned on the 276 and won't pick up any satellite signal. i thought the unit was broke. took out the other gps and still no signal. sometime ago, same experience when i was in mendocino forest and it was raining, my 2720 wasn't getting any signal too. i will try again tomorrow when the sun comes out.

so the story is we're fcukd if we rely on the gps 100%.

I've seen it happen often when the Gov updates the GPS satellites, sometimes they add a new one, or tweak the time-code or something and all the old gps's instantly freak out. could be this too if it's been a long time since it was turned on: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6162342

both 276 and 376 haven't been turned on for at least a month. i will try the zoom out and power reset tomorrow morning.

i know both gps were working before i turned them off.

thanks xy and biggiE.

really thought it was the heavy overcast that killed the signal...duh!

60 csx has the "SIRF 3" chipset, way better (than 276/376) at locating and locking sat reception. My 60 csx will lock in sat's inside the house, no problem.

Huge difference in dense woods.

Joel, a dialogue box will come up with the option to check "STORED WITHOUT BATTERIES" you need to hit that then it will work.

i have the 60csx, if not for the tiny screen, poor daylight display, and not having a speed indicator, it would have been the best gps around.

i already tried all suggestions and it seems none of them work. thanks jon for posting this one. will give it a try just have to find that "stored without batt" display. will google it.

anyway, i'm planning to buy the battery @ $2.51 each, maybe get at least 4, depends on how many wants a spare. the 376 is behaving the same way....putting new battery is the correct way.

From the map screen, press "menu" then "data fields". Add data field then change data field to include speed. (from memory but i haven't had adult beverage yet )

Yeah, small screen is a pain sometimes. We need 276 with SIRF 3 chipset.

the 276 is working now....

press the OUT and POWER keys at the same time, hold and wait until the I AGREE window shows up, then press ENTER. then drove around the block and it latched on the satellite signals.

thanks for all the inputs.
