The usual suspects I see.

I'm still alive. (plus two screws in one foot)

Bike is healthy.

Plans are to start riding on dirt later this summer after a few things clear the calendar.

H8chains,
This looks more like the kind of riding I had envisioned when I boiught my SXC. I still have some work to do to get it in touring condition (bigger tank, suspension adjustment for weight and gear, intall a CRT, and cush hub), but I hope to heal up from my Rowher crash and get the bike fixed up and try to hook up with your crew. It might be several moinths away...but I'm looking forward to it.

i heard about your crash and you would have bled to death if not for those guys who found you. good karma.

bob, the sxc is a great trail bike. i always like the LC4, it's like a xr650r with an electric starter. while you're recovering, you can keep yourself busy shopping for the needed gear and parts. i can't believe your bike doesn't have a cush hub..

i have the perfect set up for 2-3 day camping. i will post the stuff that i have and carry later.

take your time to heal properly and when you're ready, let us know...so we can break you gently.... ; just kidding, most of the rides i organized is geared more towards adv riding, big bikes, camping, sightseeing, and of course....good food! in short, more like camarederie off and on the bike.

Riding up to the Bay Area over memorial Day weekend

Hi,

I am in LA for business next week so I decided to add the weekend and Memorial Day to the trip and do some riding in the California back country. I am picking up a KLR 650 on Friday afternoon and am planning to go thru the High Sierra region/Death Valley up to the Bay Area, then return to LA on Monday on pavement (Highway 1) to pickup an evening flight back to NYC.
I'd really appreciate good suggestion/must do roads from the local inmates, or if there's a ride pepole are going on that one could join, even better!
I'm more interested in scenery than technical riding since there is quite a bit of distance I will have to cover.
Looking forward to responses!

Classy D.
