Another Confirmation about ACH

WRIGHTWOOD

Angeles Crest Highway reopens Friday

The Angeles Crest Highway, or State Route 2, which links Wrightwood and La Cañada-Flintridge, will reopen Friday after sections of it were closed because of storm damage and snow.

One section, between Islip Saddle and Vincept Gap, near Wrightwood, closes annually during snow season. A section between La Canada and the Angeles Forest Highway has been closed since January because of storm damage.

Both sections will reopen Friday, Caltrans officials said.

Jeez, talk about missing the spirit of the rule by a mile. He kicked you out of a nearly empty campground for this?

Yup, in fact, I think the campground was empty except for us at that point

He gets paid if the campground is full or empty. So he is a typical government bureaucrat. The rule says "x", you violated "x", get out.

Sad, but typical anymore.

back to the ride report

before we left the camp, jim noticed this; only reason i'm posting this is to remind you PPs to constantly check your bolts and screws. always use blue loctite 243 or equivalent.

last pic of our campsite

the volunteer ranger (the older gentleman) recommended a nice campsite on blm land towards tuweep. it's in a secluded location, nice, quiet and less windy.

moving towards our new campsite

looking forward

here comes the crew

we found our new camp

the view from our camp; sheez, the national parks took all the nice views....

Were the bugs bad enough that you needed tents? I do enjoy sleeping under the stars.

Another reason to check your bike at each stop.

I was riding the freeway. The bike felt a bit more "buzzy" than normal. Stopped to take a picture and I noticed that the tire was toast. I rode another 10 miles at <40mph to get it changed. This is the result. Waiting to see what MEFO is going to do for me.

Note to self: Bring tire spoons and learn how to change a tire on the side of the road........

ok....

from bar 10, we rode to the end of this road

which leads toward the gc

this portion of gc is not as grand as the earlier pictures but still mighty magnificent

left side

center

right side

priceless for duy

sorry if i ruined the view....

it was unfortunate for the rest of the group to be unable to get to the canyon edge. the road was rocky and rough. tim and i felt that the weestroms with semi-street tires will have a hard time so we asked them to turn around.....

this is relatively mild, no pics of the tough sections since i was trying to stay alive

the road just got better as we rode away from the canyon

everywhere you look it was nice

what goes in, goes out

this rider drank too much coolaid.....

we stopped and did a head count before hauling ass back to our new camp; good job tim for sweeping....
