101 Road Construction Heads Up

If this ends up being a long ride ie coming back esp. after dark with your moto in your truck, you probably will hit construction worsened traffic. The CHP was creating traffic breaks for the trucks to get in and out of the South/East bound lanes of the 101. A construction traffic jam isn't that big of a deal on a moto but sucks in a cage. Even if you squirt through before the active construction starts, lanes will probably be closed.

You might want to bring your larger bikes and skip the truck if you have the choice to avoid traffic. Right now they aren't showing any construction. http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi But, I think they have finally learned to do it at night.

Couldn't find 5Nf12 on any maps.

5N12 is up at the top of Gibraltar. I think it is another name for E. Camino Cielo.

It's near the intersection of E Camino Cielo and Romero Cyn. where the single track, old road takes off. I use Yahoo maps.. Might be Google.

Don't wait for me..... I know the way Gibraltar and Camino Cielo are great roads I grow up riding there

Sadly.... Romero Cyn is not open the motorcycles.... there is ONE single track that is open in the area it's called
Ortega trail here's a nice linky http://www.riderplanet-usa.com/atv/t.../ride_5704.htm

I only go down and that takes my A game but I'm and old fart with little skill and a 650

ps: been here for 58 years as of yesterday and it took me a 1/2 hr to figer out what hell you were talking about.

One more one more thing... what has been discussed so far really isn't big bike unfriendly but if'n you want to make it less comfortable bring on the little ones.

Expect 75 degree F. weather at the summits.
anyone knows where are they and which ones are nOOb friendly?

ok, eric, i'll see you before 6:30am at my house.

23W08 is the Ortega Trail that Windrat mentioned. Not noob friendly.

5N15 is Camuesa Rd and 9N11 is Big Pine Rd. They are both accessible by and North of Paradise Rd, just past Paradise campground. Don't know if they are noob friendly or not.

If 5N15 Camuesa Rd and 9N11 Big Pine Rd are open that would be fun riding but also could be warm
Paradise rd all paved has water crossings and swining holes
