Nope, Just decided I couldn't deal with the tires being street racing slicks, so a MT21 front, 606 Rear was about 2 bills. 2 fronts and a rear tube, new inflator and a bunch of carts and a couple of new rim strips. a couple tanks of gas and a burger. Oh and a $9 bottle of visene from the gas station when my allergies caused my eyes to explode.

As far as Luck I actually had a pretty great rehab ride, 13 hours in the saddle and 305 miles. my first two flats one after the other sure sucked ass though and it ended up costing me some $$

Seeing that a ranger suggested 5n15 known as Romero Canyon trail I thought I would go take a look at the lower trail head and yes it's still gated as it's been since the '70's. The top of the trail is a power line access road that had the gate removed during the fires and it really surprises me that it would be still open. A few months ago I started across it and found it strewn with rocks the size of chimps with a narrow path cleared for push bikes. After picking the bike up and pushing a Jesse somewhat back into shape I though it best to retreat and try again another day.

The only area that might be n00b unfriendly would be in the OHV area, everything else worse case would be single lane forest service road.

If the gate is now open on Romero at the OHV area it would be a good ride back to Caliente. But doing that and trying to tag Figueroa Mtn and get back to LA would mean not a lot of stopping along the way.

I'm the only one who was considering doing Figueroa Mtn. Depending on what's open tomorrow, I may scratch that idea.

I think the 5n15 and 9n11 the ranger was referring to are at the North end of that trail above Gibralter Reservoir.

Joel

I'm going to go ahead and go to the Daily Grind in SB. I want to eat a little bit.

Finding Gibralter from town is a bit tough too. So I need IR to lead us up there.

See you at Gibralter and E Camino Cielo... 8:30 am

Jim
