It was a great ride, I've got a couple more pics to add.

At the meeting spot on Camino Cielo

Treadless

Joel in Treadless' dust - it was a dusty day!

This was the tough section toward the end of East Camino Cielo

Great views!

Biggie taking the curves

Need to work on my over-shoulder shots

Joel carving up the road on our way to the trucks

Great views anywhere you look!

I was down to probably less than 5 miles of gas when we pulled in at Santa Ynez - yikes!

Doesn't Joel always have at least one nap per ride? I think it is his UBERN00B ploy.

I don't want to be too dismissive of Joel's theory, but yeah it seems like there's an AWFUL LOT of cheap asphalt out there.

Paradise, Camuesa Canyon, Big Pine, Santa Ynez

Since Joel had already gotten his SB park and fall out of the way, we figured it was safe to go past the Cold Spring Tavern.

Although it might be fun to ride over this bridge,

Stagecoach Rd was a lot more scenic.

On our way up Camuesa Rd a local stopped and filled us in on our options, including gas. He offered us gas from his house and almost invited us to eat tri-tip with him.

One of about 37,000 views.

A popular place to stop for a picture.

The panorama is what you can never appreciate in a photo.

Vic and Jim enjoying a nice sunny break.

Mike

Saying goodbye to our local escorts (I'm used to that) Bob and Mike.

Bob said he might stop for a beer at Cold Spring but it looks like he might be thinking Captain.

Then into Santa Ynez for gas,

a bite to eat

and some shade.

How about Nordhoff Ridge in Septemeber? I can pick up passes from the Ojai rangers if everybody calls to order them individually. When would be good?

Pick your dates carefully or you will be fighting for permits with the hunters.

Bob
It was awesome. You could of rode all of it safely. There was one hillclimb that was too severe for me and most of the other guys, where we turned around. The other hillclimb was just as h8chains wrote, med difficulty, two track, with plenty of room to dump if needed without tumbling down on either side. Really fun.

We are talking about antoehr ride in September which you could do. Heal up.

The Santa Barbara ride was a big success, thanks to all the guys that rode it and helped:
  • Doug for bringing extra gas;
  • Jim and Bigge and ? for navigating us through W. Camino Cielo and Refugio;
  • Joel for managing this monster thread;
  • Everybody that posted great photos.
Must ride more.

Hmm. Do you know when hunting season opens? Is Nordhoff Ridge known for hunting? Dodging bullets is not cool.
