The Camp is a non-profit dedicated to educational activities, so it helps if you have some sort of "educational" aspect to you group.

They are really nice people to work with.

It takes 75 people to reserve the camp for your exclusive use, but they often have smaller groups.

It is not really a "campground". Their usual practice is to rent the bunk houses. They agreed to the camping thing because the HU group was too large for the number of bunks (100) available.

They are flexible. Talk to them about what you want/need. You can probably find a way to make it work. They are dealing with financial pressures like everyone else in this economy.

The meals are optional.

Here is the rental rate page from their web site.

PM me if I can help.

Cheers,

thanks mike for the info. hmmmm, this got me thinking of organizing a norcal - socal adv meet next summer. if we could get the norcal adv riders to come out, we should be able to meet the minimum. do a 3-day event; friday - ride, saturday - meet and greet, presentations, technical training and riding lesson; sunday - breakfast and raffle.

this year, we did the simeon ride and that was great. cambria is an ideal place, halfway between la and sf.

lots of good riding north of cambria

then southeast of cambria is pozo

and carrizo

Meetup place depends on where Tex is coming from - maybe Dennys at Roxford St exit if he is coming from the south. No need to do Little T, been there...

Do you have a specific route in mind?

I usually hit the dirt near Littlerock/Pearblossom.

I need to know how everybody feels about sand.
It can be avoided if needed.

Do you guys have Mapsource? I can post a .gdb or .gpx set of possible tracks.
Otherwise I will have to do a Google map.
I'd like to see if Dennis is still interested. I can also just try and meet you guys in Randsburg.
Dennis may be planning on more pavement to get to Jawbone and the El Pasos.

A long ride for a GS? What better bike to do a long ride on?

And it's a GSA, not a GS. Bigger tank, lower gears, better wheels, suspension, protection, etc...

As for sand, I don't mind it here and there in the straightst but the deep stuff I try to avoid. It's a heavy bike w/a small front tire and is more difficult to handle. If it's like the LAB2V dual sport route then no thanks.

I am still in the land of the rising sun but land at LAX at 11:00 am tomorrow.
