Meetup place depends on where Tex is coming from - maybe Dennys at Roxford St exit if he is coming from the south. No need to do Little T, been there...

Do you have a specific route in mind?

I usually hit the dirt near Littlerock/Pearblossom.

I need to know how everybody feels about sand.
It can be avoided if needed.

Do you guys have Mapsource? I can post a .gdb or .gpx set of possible tracks.
Otherwise I will have to do a Google map.
I'd like to see if Dennis is still interested. I can also just try and meet you guys in Randsburg.
Dennis may be planning on more pavement to get to Jawbone and the El Pasos.

A long ride for a GS? What better bike to do a long ride on?

And it's a GSA, not a GS. Bigger tank, lower gears, better wheels, suspension, protection, etc...

As for sand, I don't mind it here and there in the straightst but the deep stuff I try to avoid. It's a heavy bike w/a small front tire and is more difficult to handle. If it's like the LAB2V dual sport route then no thanks.

I am still in the land of the rising sun but land at LAX at 11:00 am tomorrow.

Yes, I'm in same area as John so I'm ok with Pearblossom.

Eric, do come along. I intended this as an easy pavement/dirt road trip to visit a few landmarks - Husky monument, Randsburg town, Burro Schmidt tunnel, Jawbone store. To do this in daylight we need to do direct routes and not mess with single track or narrow sand washes (much as i love em on my small bike).

John, last time I did this loop was in 1986 and I started the dirt at Hi Vista so I defer to your local knowledge. I was thinking of approaching the monument from the south thru Harper Lake and up that big wide sand wash. Back in the day you could drive a 2WD up there. Any idea what it's like now? How much range do we need to make it to Jawbone for gas? I have about 130/140 miles with 1 gallon reserve. Is there gas at Jo'burg?
Whew, that's enuff thinking for now
This trip is ON.
