by now, the fat bikes knew it was a trap

overall, it wasn't really that bad

that was the easiest short cut i know...
i do know 2 other short cuts, one of the 2 i don't think GS can pass (bike will be wide) i couldn't remember which one it was

did u noticed that there were 2 other options from Haski but none of the groups used it

Looks like a great time. Too bad I missed it. Would have loved to ridden my GS in the desert with some other Beemer's. Will be at LAB2V though this next week (but riding my new Husa 570).

If you are doing this ride the second weekend of Dec I am in!

This Friday I am leaving Camarillo, a lot of street to Rowher coming in the back way. Meet up with some FF's ride a bit then back out to Rock Inn for lunch then home.

HUGE Bike friendly.

hahaha...yes, that is shallow. i was hanging on to survive in the deep sections, sorry no pics.

bob, have fun at rowher, condition should be epic. we will be waiting for the rr...yeah, you're notorious for bailing out...we want to see some pics...

lior, let's get the word out. thre's no better riding partner, than having factory trained mechanic in the group...... if you PPs going to have a bike break down, better on the trail since lior does not charge a single penny......
once on pavement, his hourly rate is pretty reasonable.

the last stop for the group was at the hoffman tower

after this pic, the 5 BMW riders took the nearby higway 395.

yes, we were fortunate to have the near perfect weather, great riding, no injury, and having good guys in the group.

the 4 of us, sean, danny, isaac and I continued on and explored the dirt trails between cal city and mojave. it was getting late and very cold. once we hit the 58, danny got on it, and rode home in the dark.

dead bike and planes - duh...i ran out of gas after 95 miles...... ymmv in the sand wash....

i waited, waited, and waited for help..... nothing, i pushed the bike for 1/4 mile, then this nice guy and his son were going the opposite direction and saw me. they made a u-turn and rescued me.....

another great experience and good karma.

yeah, my day ended in a very good note! it was the perfect day.....

thanks to everyone who made the weekend a great one.

Nice one day ride, but might be a little easy for some.
Weather is good, but days are short. Maybe we can do this before the end of the year.

We thought joel went to the liquor store as he disapeared within mojave city limits the last minute and half of the ride. No more riding on reserve until on goes empty

Either that or is was "you don't ride very well for someone riding 8 months now." I couldn't tell.

I don't think anyone did. I got mine up to 94.7 mph but pussed out. It was really windy and that far end of the lake had those loose stones on it.

Danny G's second short cut saved me a lot of sand though!

thanks john.

nice, and lots of good info. we took the track from the north east of cuddyback and by pass the lake on the way to haski.

thanks also to jerry, this just opens up more routes to explore. yeah, we need to do a camp and ride for sure in the coming months before the lake get soggy. lol it will stay dry though.

couple of mistakes

leaving the petcock on reserve all the time was a bad move.

i assumed that the exc with the 3.1 gal clark tank will get me 120 miles....wrong! ymmv on dirt.

http://justgastanks.com/p456/KTM-525...duct_info.html

my total miles for the day was 150 miles, and i topped off at johannesburg, put 1 gal (got there 45 mpg). basically from start to finish i had 4.1 gals. which 1 assumed will be good for 160 miles on dirt....WRONG!

now i know better.

not to chastise anyone......

when on a group ride, you are responsible for the person behind you. every obstacles, hazards, turns or instances where the next rider may crash or get lost, you have to wait and provide help if necessary. it doesn't matter whether it's dirt or pavement; or 1 block from the staging area.

always be sensitive to the less experienced riders, keep an eye on them.they will need assistance in one way or another. our group rides is not a race. our rides are open and free. just don't take all you can get. give something back to the group cuz one day you will be in the receiving end.

sorry if i keep on repeating myself....and i will until everyone understands.
