Finally dirt!

Pavement ends! The trail head to pasta's shortcut, and we didn't have to use the call box!

The fun begins

imgonnasnap

Our trail leader reacting to the effect from the EMF above

We don't need quick wearing TKCs to do dirt!

The FFs didn't wait for me at the Y, took the easy one on the right and sure enough I caught up with them.

Of course, my backup team provided me the proper ride to do the job

A view from the top

After teaching them a lesson and the proper trail decorum, now they wait for me

Artboy complaining to the world rider about all the dead ends he took us to.

It was pasta's lucky day, he didn't have to help any of us, for the record, no bike was dropped.

And if you're good like me, you don't really need knobbies.

That red gs growls , especially in 1st gear from start to finish!

Lots of thanks to pasta for the taking us to this trail and finally got my gs on dirt for the first time!

WOW! Looks like you guys had a great time! Someday my weekends will free up again and someday George from ESP will get to my rear shock! Glad to see you all had fun and with no carnage! It is at least a little inspiring to live vicariously through you all!

soon to ride!

Didn't take too many pictures, but here is a video, I have a few more I'll post later on.

This was of the "short cut" that Pasta led us on.

ride the $*#(@) thing, and you'll quickly learn that the stain marks in your brooks were firstly from fear and then from ecstacy.

Great riding with you guys today....just got in an hour ago...had so much fun that I got to Malibu and kept going....

You boys ride those big GS's pretty darn good on the tarmac....nicely done...Pasta rides fast but when a cage cut him off then passed over the line to pass him and a van...Pasta rode like a GP pilot to catch up and give the bastage the ol' Adv. salute...

Imgonnasnap rides the ever livin' crapola outta that motarded SE...no rear brake and all... ...

Design4d might have dirt and sand in his veins....every time there was a dirt side road or cut off you could see him stare at it and wonder why we had all signed up for a tarmac day...

H8chains and Artboy kept mentioning that they were the "more senior statesman" of the group yet every time there was a 100+mph run...they were right in the thick of it... ...they were trying to hustle us I think...

holy crap, went out to the desert to ride with Riceless today.
for a second i thought he didn't like me cuz some of the "non trail" riding in the sand we were doing and rock climbing in the heat was brutal, but i'm always up for a challenge!!!

well, the only casualty was my left mirror in a drop trying to climb rocks.

a huge thanks again to Riceless for an excellent day of riding!!!

p.s. Riceless got lots of pictures, so there be a ride report of me tossin the KLR around.

These are the only two pictures I got today - usually I take 300 pics every time the bike leaves the garage.

FUN ride! It had a bit of everything; scenic twisties, backroad bombing at over a TON, attempted murder by some jackass in a first generation MR2.... seriously, WTF was up with that guy? Four years ago I would have run him down, beat the shit out of him, and rolled his car into a ditch.

Luckily times for me have changed - luckily for THAT guy.

It was great to see you all again and to finally meet Nowwhat!! You'll have to show me and the woman your replica!! The woman wants to drive it...

Riceless - he's a good mentor as well as a tormentor! And he hates shiny bikes!

Glad you get your ride and some battle scars!

Someone had a bad day

We found this bike abandoned along Angeles Crest

Apprarently the rider had a mishap earlier.

The Crest is a great and beautiful place to ride the twisties. When I used to ride there every weekend, I see accidents in more days than not. Most of them young in their 20s and on Japanese bikes. Inexperience, youth, fast and affordable bike, and peer pressure is a fatal combination.

weather

What, nothing about the weather ? I've done the LT - Soledad - AFH - Upper Big Tujunga - Newcombs loop from around 10am today and the wind has been blowing the bike left and right, especially on LT and Soledad Cyn. But it was nice and cool.

Reached Newcomb's around 12:30, I guess you guys were already gone by then. Boy did it get hot once I descended back in the Valley!

I took the pleasure of wedging my KTM in between those two old school BMW's. I can't say it wasnt on purpose

BTW. I came to the conclusion today that I have a crayola crayon camo thing going on. Orange/black bike, Yellow helmet, green back pack, white jacket and blue jeans.

The wind wasn't much a factor for a 600# bike and rider. The weather was really cool until I got home. Besides, the only way I was able to keep it under 100 was the 40mph wind blowing on my back.
