Me too. I had to go home to the snowy Midwest last week. The whole time I was wondering what Baja would be like with you all.

jon you know, riding slow ensures my safe being..

made sure i have these, saved my hands from freezing and great protection from branches sticking into the trail. good also for those with heated grips, keeps the heat in the grip. got the idea from tex and dannyG. bought them from motohelp in canoga park. johngil will even deliver them to the next ride. makes the bike look bigger too....

np karl, that was just an exploratory ride, the next one will be smoother, less wasted time looking for the routes, and places to stay. you're IN on the next one....

Joel, 36 months ago right before Christmas. The gas station at Puertocitos has no gas and was closed.
With gas at Gonzaga not a sure thing,I looked around town to spot some gas before continues.
Someone told me the road crews who brought in the new asphalt just short of Puertocitos stored gas up their camp.
I found the camp but they won't sell me their gas. Finally a young contractor (not road crew) took me to his
company's camp may be a mile away and sold me couple of gallons.
When I got to Gonzaga gas station, it was open for business, I filled up again.
It seem to took 3 years for the road to be build from Puertocitos to Gonzaga !

Awesome pics and RR Joel. Sad to see all the pavement south of Puertocitos. And yes, I need to get down there before it is all paved to GB. Looking forward to the next trip south.

Folks, sorry didn't mean to surprise anyone.

We have been blessed for having lots of riding area and surrounded by good people. Many of us have been riding together for over 4 years and we developed great friendships on and off our bikes, including on the net.

For 2012 and on, I would like to focus more on Adventure Riding, which involves traveling (camp or motel) and dirt riding combined.

The weekend riding will still be part of our riding activities, very much needed as a quick getaway or escape from the city life, get to see familiar PPs and welcome new riders. likewise, local riding is a great opportunity to improve our dirt skills.

We all know, those adventure bikes are meant for something, not just big dirt bikes. That said, hope to see more peeps to get aboard and join our future rides.

Really thankful to everyone for making this thread alive and enjoysome.

Yesterday the weather was perfect I and M1Jeep decided to ride CNF. But first I had to fix my 2 front turn signals that I messed up on my last ride. I had to put them apart, attach all the cables back, do some wire cutting and use some electric tape. After spending two hours for 2 turn signals (45 minutes repair, 30 mins looking for a lost nut that was laying right in front of our eyes, and an other 45 minutes looking for a bolt that was already attached on the bike ) we were able to start riding at 12 noon. I washed my bike early in the day, so it was shinier than ever.
The weather was unbelievably nice. I would say one f the most comfortable rides I have ever took on my bike, fwy and Silverado Canyon Road as well.

Once we hit the dirt after Maple gate, it was getting hotter and hotter as we start working with the bikes. Road was OK, just some rocky sections toward to top. Other than that no problem. Oh, there were some jeepers too. More than bikers actually.
The top was great. Clear and not too hot, it was about 2:00pm when we get there. There was bunch of 4-wheelers on the top but once we get there, they left. View was very clear.

We could see all the way to Catalina Island (55 miles)

Then we took the Main Divide Road on our way down to Ortega Hwy. I've never ridden this one before. Road was smoother than coming up, and covered with trees.

There was some snow/ice patches under the shades here and there but no prob for an experienced/professional rider like myself. Meaning I didn't fall at all...
And the views were much better than the other side. I loved the weather....

Rich is overlooking Lake Elsinore. Did I mention that the weather was great????

We took Ortega Hwy to Hell's Kitchen. Nice weather...

On our way down we met 3 GS riders lost in the wilderness. One was working at Riverside BMW and invited us for a test ride sometime. Obviously he didnt know that I am an anti-GS guy. But on the other hand, I may give it a shot. He also gave us his business card but I forgot it at home in my riding jacket.
They were trying to get to Hell's Kitchen as well so Rich gave them directions. They pulled in after 20 mins we got there and we were still waiting for the waitress. I have to say that serviced sucked over there. There was hardly any customers but it took us 30 minutes just to order food, and we were starving. At one point I thought they only serve Harley riders and I asked Rich to show his tattoos since I dont have any.
Anyways, it was our first time there so maybe they didn't recognize us. Hopefully we will get better service next time.
That's it. See you guys on next Sunday for my anniversary...
